☀️ A lovely visitor to the hut today

It was great to catch up with Roderick Urquhart, the Lord Lieutenant of East Lothian, who popped by to say hello while we were supporting a couple of hires on this beautiful sunny afternoon.

He had just had a delicious lunch at the The Lobster Shack

We were delighted to give him an update on the Beach Wheelchairs project and share just how busy and successful our summer has been.

Lovely to have him stop by and see the service in action!

💙 A huge thank you! 💙

A massive thank you to Ross Murray from the Aberlady Gala Committee, who has very kindly donated £200 to Beach Wheelchairs.

The donation came about after Dirleton Market on the Green lent the Aberlady gala gazobos and, rather than accepting payment, suggested a donation be made to a local charity, and we were absolutely delighted that Beach Wheelchairs was nominated! 🥰

We’re so grateful when people in our local community think of us and choose to support our charity. Donations like this help us keep our specialist wheelchairs maintained and keep more people enjoying the beach together. 🌊

Thank you Ross and everyone involved – your support really does make a difference!

One of our amazing regular customers was able to access a very special mermaid event during the Porty Festival weekend, and we think her face says it all! 🥰

This is exactly why Beach Wheelchairs exists: helping make sure everyone can join in, make memories and enjoy experiences together.

We received some absolutely lovely feedback from Mum too, which we’ve shared below.

Sammy had such an amzing time.She loved meeting the mermaids and when we took the wheelchair on the sand and towards the sea, she was squealing with absolute delight.It was so lovely to hear. We will definitely have to make more trips to the beach, she enjoyed it so much.She loved just watching the waves break too.

🌻 A huge thank you to Balgone Estate🌻

We’re delighted to have received a very generous £300 donation from Balgone Farm following another fantastic Sunflower Trail.

Our two all-terrain wheelchairs were hired an amazing 55 times throughout the event, helping more people access the trail and enjoy the beautiful sunflower experience with family and friends.

We absolutely love this partnership and are so grateful for Balgone’s continued support. Their donation helps us keep our beach wheelchair hire service completely free for everyone.

Working Together to Make the Beach Accessible

We’re so delighted to have such wonderful partnerships within our local community and with our fellow harbour users.

A huge thank you to Jody and Andy from Sea Sea Beyond Paddlesports who helped make it possible for this amazing family to get out on the water together on the mega board. 🌊

We were lucky enough to see them when they returned, and the pure delight on all of their faces said absolutely everything! Moments like this are exactly what accessibility and inclusion are all about, families being able to enjoy experiences together and make fantastic memories.

It’s great to be working together and seeing what can be made possible through strong local partnerships. Thank you, Jodie and Andy! 🙌

It’s such a simple moment, but it captures exactly why our service exists, making sure that nobody has to miss out on those special family days at the beach.

🌳 Wheelchair-Friendly Guided Walk – Butterdean Woods 🌳

♿ The walk is wheelchair-friendly and follows a circular route through the woods, taking approximately 1–1½ hours.
