I posted quite a while back now that I would be reviewing my pricing, and unfortunately, I can't put it off any longer.
From Wednesday 1st July, the mini sessions I run at The Mothership Family Hub will be increasing from £25 per session to £29 per session.
I've always tried to keep my prices as affordable as possible. The reason I started these mini sessions is because I genuinely feel it's important for families to have nice photos, and for many, full family photoshoots are just not something they can justify the cost of (and that's fair enough!).
Plus, I have always been very vocal about the importance of getting more mums in pictures with their kids, instead of being the ones taking the photos all of the time (and therefore looking like they don't exist when you put family photo albums together!).
And right now, the whole country is feeling the pinch. Our bills are absolutely massive (and they keep going up) and our incomes aren't increasing at the same rate, making things tighter and tighter. People everywhere have been clamouring for wage increases so they can afford to buy the things they need and pay the bills that just keep going up.
As a self employed person, I don't have a boss to talk to about a pay rise, or a national living wage to ensure I'm making a certain amount per hour. The only way I can get a pay rise is to increase my prices, which then upsets people because they're seeing prices rising everywhere already. I've been covering the increases in rent on the premises I use and other business expenses for a while now without increasing my prices, and that has actually meant I've had a pay decrease over the last year while the national living wage has increased. Not something anyone wants to happen to their income!
So please understand when a small business, whether it's mine, your local salon, the place you buy your fruit and veg, or whoever increases their prices, we're not doing it so we can buy ourselves a flash new car or go on a fancy holiday (I WISH!!!). We're doing it because it's the only way we can have a pay rise too, like the rest of the people out there. Many self employed people I know haven't increased their prices for years (including me!). And our bills are rising too. Not just our household ones, but the bills we pay to run these businesses.
I'll also be reviewing the prices of the other shoots I offer this month, and you'll start to see these price changes on my website. But as these sessions are booked online and are the most popular of my services, I'm sharing that price increase here.
