Step Up Safe Space continues to grow as a vital hub for everyone across the New Forest, providing practical support, environmental sustainability, and a welcoming space to connect.
Our core mission rests on two simple principles: supporting every single member of our community and promoting a culture of reusing and recycling. We aren't just here for moments of hardship—we are here for anyone who wants to live more sustainably, save resources, reduce household waste, or connect with their neighbours.
How We Build Community & Protect the Environment
Promoting Reuse & Recycling: By circulating pre-loved items across our hubs, we keep tons of quality goods out of landfills. Choosing reused items is one of the easiest ways to lower your environmental footprint.
Open Essential Goods & Clothing Distribution: Available to everyone in the community with zero criteria, judgments, or barriers. Across our hubs in milford on sea (a collaboration with the Milford on sea youth football) Pennington, New Milton, Ashley, and community days & pop up events all over the forest , you can find and exchange school uniforms, sportswear, everyday clothing, formal wear, toiletries, and household goods.
Targeted Hardship Support: To help local households stay warm, dry, and prepared, we have provided 60 school shoe vouchers for local children and distributed 30 dehumidifiers to help families manage damp indoor conditions.
Community Referral Networks: We coordinate directly with local agencies to connect residents with regional food banks, fuel voucher assistance programs, and energy advice.
Outreach & Mobility: Our dedicated outreach vehicle allows us to transport donated goods, deliver items directly to rural areas, and host mobile pop-up events across the region.
Why We Need Financial Donations
While donated items keep our supply hubs full, financial contributions are essential to keeping our doors open and our vehicles on the road.
Direct monetary donations allow us to buy specific targeted items that cannot be donated pre-loved—such as new school shoe vouchers & specialized moisture control equipment. Financial support also directly covers our core operational costs, including vehicle fuel, insurance, venue hires, and logistics. Every pound donated stays right here in the local community to power these critical services.
How You Can Get Involved
Make a Financial Contribution: One-off or recurring financial donations make a direct, immediate impact. contact us directly to arrange a transfer to our Charity account
Pass It On: Donate outgrown school uniforms, clean clothing, and unused toiletries to give them a second life.
Choose Pre-Loved First: Pick up items you need from our hubs instead of buying new—it supports eco-friendly living and normalizes sustainable choices for everyone.
Join Eco-Crafting & Upcycling Projects: Get involved in creative initiatives where we turn repurposed materials—such as transforming donated t-shirts into fabric yarn—into items for local fundraising stalls.
