People ask what the saddest aspects of cat rescue can be:
Along with the obvious cases of abuse, neglect and retrieving deceased RTA victims, the other unpleasant part is the kittens and mums that get left behind.
Out of the 8 kittens from the Ringworm colony, 5 have found forever homes, leaving 3 in foster getting bigger and therefore less appealing to adopters. The 2 mums haven’t had any interest either.
MARSHALL- still into everything, hence named after Eminem (Marshall Mathers- “guess who’s back, back again?”)
He is the first to leg it out of the foster room and encourages his brothers to do the same.
Every new toy, bowl, box and bed will be thoroughly inspected- Marshall takes his role as quality control very seriously.
MO- permanently looks like his favourite toy has been taken away. I think it’s the eyes. Getting quite cuddly now and is braver than his bigger brother Gizmo. Named after Mo Farah as the lad can move like lighting when any medicine needs to be given.
GIZMO- so named because he looks like the Mogwai from gremlins. And life imitates art because he’s a complete pansy. He’s always been the biggest and is harbouring a grudge against me after the 6 weeks of ringworm medicine. Luckily he has no beef with his fosterer so she gets affection. He is very attached to his brother Mo.
SHADOW- approx 10 months old, co-parented the 8 kittens with her sister who she is very bonded to. She is a cuddle bug who rolls around with her tummy out when she knows you. Spayed, chipped and ready to be free of her kids. Like, seriously over it now.
ECLIPSE- sister to Shadow, 10 months old, spayed, chipped and also over motherhood thank you very much. She is a little more nervous than her sister but always takes her cues from Shadow and as soon as she realises Shadow likes you and isn’t being murdered, she’s over for fusses.
Please don’t let these cats get left behind. They spent their whole lives living rough outside in a colony- battled through ringworm, conjunctivitis, fleas, ticks and worms and need their chance at a forever home now they are healthy and happy.
