1st Nailsea Guides were thrilled with their meeting venue being nice and cool on Thursday evening in the heatwave!

They enjoyed a relaxing Guide meeting making mini pizzas, doing some craft and having some ice lollies of course. What a fun way to end an extremely hot day!

With Girlguiding formed in 1910, 116 years ago, we have seen volunteers involved over the years. Girlguiding has got a special tribute page for messages about people involved in Girlguiding no longer with us.

There are many volunteers loved, remembered and missed by Girlguiding Nailsea and Wraxall Trefoil Guild. It would be lovely to put some tributes out about these volunteers - whether it be their contemporary fellow leaders, a parent or young member at the time who remembers that person or maybe a family member you have who was involved in Girlguiding. Let’s remember them.

Did you know you can honour a loved one’s Guiding story?

The tribute space on our website allows you to share and celebrate the impact of someone special who was part of Girlguiding. It’s a place to reflect on their guiding journey and the moments that mattered most.

You can share memories, stories or reflections that help recognise the difference they made.
To contribute, you can add your memory directly or email it to [email protected] for us to upload on your behalf.

Members of Girlguiding Nailsea don’t just get out and help their community or just do events all together. We also have a lot of fun in our unit meetings. Here are a few of the many activities our units have done this term:

1st Nailsea Rainbows - making and having fun with non-Newtonian liquid and visited Stockway North Nature Reserve

5th Nailsea Brownies - learnt about how to use different tools and had a go at making something with them

9th Nailsea Brownies - tried Nordic walking

Plus all of our units have plenty of exciting things planned still to happen

A brilliant badge to combine with various interest badges in all the sections and with today’s Nailsea Community Clean Up happening (meet at 12:45pm at Millennium Park)

As part of Volunteers Week and the Big Help Out, we’re excited to launch our new Community Action badge. This set includes 3 badges that can be purchased individually or as a full set — we suggest awarding the main badge for the first activity completed, with the two smaller badges marking future actions. The challenge is all about inspiring our fantastic members to get involved in their local communities and make a positive difference. We have created a guidance document which offers activity ideas to get started, but there’s plenty of scope to explore your own creative ways to take action too. Find out more in the resources section of our website and purchase the badges from the region shop.

Image Description:
Illustration of the new Community Champion Badge. The battery is made of three parts. The bottom part has roots with the word where roots run deep communities blue and I am the community champion. This section has roots and is placed at the bottom. Another section above on the left has flowers, bees, and half of a tree, as well as a kite with the Girlguiding trefoil and S W E Compass logo. The last section on the right has the other half of the tree and a person litter picking. They connect together with the bottom section showing the roots of the tree and plants above.
