Wild Days Continue at Brown Rock

We are delighted to share that Brown Rock CIC has secured new funding, enabling Wild Days to continue through a partnership with Becoming Earth CIC.

What began as Fresh Air Fridays in 2021 has, over the past four years, grown into a thriving community rooted in friendship, confidence and belonging.

Throughout this journey, Hannah, Janice and Jason have facilitated Wild Days since the start, helping it grow into the community it is today. Alongside this work, they have recently established a new CIC called Becoming Earth.

Through this new partnership, Wild Days will continue whilst also creating space for new offerings and opportunities to emerge.

Wild Days returns on 25 September, and we are looking forward to people gathering on the land once again.

To mark this next chapter, Hannah, Janice and Jason have shared a short announcement with a reflection from a long-standing participant.

How a partnership between Brown Rock CIC and the newly formed Becoming Earth CIC is supporting the next chapter.

Hello, this is the first of what will be an ongoing series of monthly gatherings on the land for fathers, carers, step-dads, grandfathers...

One question I have been asked a lot when sharing the idea has been:

"Is it for dads and kids together?"

The short answer is no—these sessions are for fathers and carers on their own.

It's not often you see a space where dads, grandfathers, carers, and step-dads can come along purely for themselves. This is a space for fathers across generations to come and be.

That’s it... Well, kind of. It will be a facilitated space with simple invitations on the land based in the beautiful roundhouse at Sky View Ham Green Centre —with zero pressure to perform, share, or fix anything.

What this is not is a self-help or personal wellbeing session. Nope, it's about taking time to tend to our relationship with the living world and stepping out of a human-centred intensity for a short while.

Simon and I, both of us fathers and facilitators of these sessions, don't claim to have life or parenting figured out, but we know that spending time on the land in this way is so needed right now, more so for men. Stepping out of the domestic rush isn't an escape from family life—it’s a way to ground ourselves back into the wider web of life.

Please share, get in contact, start the conversation with us, as we hope to grow this community together, and come join us on the land for our very first session.

At our Spring Equinox gathering, people wrote down three words at the start of the session and again at the end.
These are just a few of the words they shared.

They arrived feeling:
stressed, tired, anxious, depleted, hesitant.

They left feeling:
abundant, grounded, rooted, peaceful, connected, calmer.

This is what these sessions offer — a gentle return to the present, where peace, connection, warmth, and gratitude begin to replace the stress people arrive with.

Our next and final session in this series, where we have been following the movement of the sun, is on 27th June.

You can book via the website:

✨ Winter Solstice Gathering – Final Spaces ✨

Our afternoon session is almost full, while there is still plenty of space in the morning session.

Both sessions offer the same gentle, community-centred experience: time to slow down, connect with nature, mark the turning of the year, and welcome the returning light together.

We will also be holding our Winter Solstice gathering in the beautiful Cob House— a warm, natural space that feels especially fitting for pausing and coming together at this time of year.

If you’ve been thinking about joining us, the morning would be a lovely time to come.

⚠️Nature under threat in North Somerset

We’re concerned that development proposals in the North Somerset Local Plan threaten the future of critically important sites for nature, including Weston Big Wood SSSI.

We are objecting to the current proposals and urge North Somerset Council to re-think its approach.

Avon Wildlife Trust is working with communities, farmers, landowners, and partner organisations to secure nature’s recovery across the region. We believe that it is possible to have development in harmony with nature, but the draft North Somerset Local Plan does not currently meet this requirement.

At present there are elements of the Plan that threaten existing ecological networks, including the loss of Green Belt, by damaging the critical connections between international, national and locally designated sites, and through significant loss of the corridors and stepping stones that connect these sites.

Find out more about our views on the Plan via the link below.
