1156 (Whitley Bay) Sqn where young people aged between 12 and 20 can enjoy activities including sports, shooting, flying, gliding, adventure training and more.

What a weekend for our cadets at AT Challenge! 💪🏕️

Our team took on an action-packed weekend full of determination, teamwork, and resilience. From completing an incredible 17km (plus or minus a few km) walk to tackling the first aid challenge, mountain biking, archery, and orienteering, every cadet gave 100% throughout the event.

The weekend tested both physical and mental strength, and our cadets rose to every challenge with enthusiasm and team spirit. We are incredibly proud of all those who represented the squadron and showed what RAFAC cadets are capable of.

A huge well done to everyone involved! 👏

Last week, 1156 Whitley Bay Squadron have had the fantastic opportunity to visit Southridge First School as part of their STEM Week activities! 🚀

The students got hand-on with a range of challenges and activities including:
🛩️ Flying an F-35 Lightning in our flight simulator
🎈 Racing balloon-powered rocket cars
🌀 Designing marble runs
📄 Creating and testing paper planes

It was great to see so much enthusiasm, creativity, and teamwork from all the students throughout the week. Hopefully we inspired some future engineers, pilots, and scientists along the way!

A big thank you to the school for inviting us to be part of such a brilliant week. 👏

🚁GNAAS Visit!🚁

Last night we were delighted to welcome Robert from Great North Air Ambulance Service, who visited the squadron to deliver an engaging and informative talk.

Cadets learned about the vital lifesaving work carried out across the region, the challenges faced by the crew, and the importance of teamwork and specialist training in emergency situations.
A huge thank you to GNAAS for taking the time to visit us and inspire our cadets with an insight into such an incredible service.

And to finish off the night, a few of our cadets gained certificates for various awards!
- Silver Cyber: Sgt Coleman.
- EFA: Cadet Frazer.
- Blue Space: Cadets Bennett, Pringle, Coleman and Sgt Gilroy.

🎉Padres night🎉

Padre Walker joined us for an engaging Padres’s night packed with activities, competitions and a lovely debate. It was a fantastic opportunity for our cadets to challenge themselves, work as a team and develop critical thinking skills.

Another productive and rewarding parade night for 1156 and 131 City of Newcastle Sqn RAF Air Cadets!

Tonight, all cadets successfully completed their stove training, learning how to safely set up, operate and maintain field cooking equipment.
Alongside this, cadets also took part in first aid quizzes, putting their knowledge and life-saving skills to the test.

These sessions form an important part of our preparation as some of our cadets get ready to take on the AT challenge this May. Building confidence, competence, and teamwork now will set them up for success when they head out into the field.

It’s great to see such strong engagement, determination, and support for one another throughout the evening, keep up the fantastic work! 👏
