✨We Will Remember Them.✨

Last night, was honoured to welcome Michael Dale, a former member of the Military Police, alongside Nicola Dale who are both volunteers Whitley Bay, North Shields & District Royal British Legion for a special evening of remembrance and history.

Michael spent the evening educating our cadets on the First and Second World Wars, exploring the significance of Armistice Day and how Remembrance Sunday came to be an important part of our national remembrance.

The cadets had the opportunity to ask questions, learn more about the sacrifices made by previous generations and, importantly, understand the cause we will be supporting over the coming weeks as we raise money for the Royal British Legion ahead of our own parade on Remembrance Sunday. The second half of the evening took us on a journey through military uniforms, from the World Wars through to the modern day. Cadets were able to see how uniforms, equipment and ranks have evolved over time, including some of the kit Michael personally wore during his service in the Gulf.

A huge thank you to Michael and Nicola for giving up their evening to spend time with us. Your knowledge, personal experiences and passion for sharing the history of our local area helped bring remembrance to life for our cadets.

🥾 RAF WARMA Winter Walk🥾

An early start for cadets and staff from as they travelled to Sandbach to take part in the RAF WARMA Winter Walk!

Congratulations to the following cadets who completed the 20km route, earning their Bronze Road Marching Badge 🥉 and receiving their medals 🎖️ , in a team led by CI Sutherland and Sgt Hunter

Also completing the 20km route to maintain their road marching fitness and recieving their medals 🎖️ were Sgt Stafford and Cdt Hills.

A huge well done to Flt Lt Sutherland and CWO Harker, who pushed through to complete the challenging 30km route!🥇

A fantastic achievement by everyone involved, with sights already set on the next training session and the ultimate challenge of the two-day RAF WARMA Events at RAF Cosford.

👏 A massive thank you to Flt Lt Sutherland and all the Road Marching Training Leaders (RMTLs) from Durham Northumberland Wing Air Cadets for organising the event and supporting all 45 cadets and staff throughout the challenge.

✈️Taking to the skies!✈️

An early start on Saturday saw 3 from , Sgt Stafford, Cdt Hills and Flt Lt Sutherland travelling down to RAF Topcliffe 645 Volunteer Gliding Squadron for the exciting opportunity to experience gliding!

Despite the early morning start, it was a fantastic opportunity to experience aviation first-hand, take to the skies and see the world from a different perspective.

A huge thank you to everyone at 645 VGS for making this opportunity possible!

🥾Bronze DofE Expedition Complete!🥾

A huge well done to Cdt Race, Day, Stafford from who have successfully completed their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition! 🥉

Following a practice expedition around Alnwick, our cadets took on their assessed expedition along the beautiful Northumberland coastline this weekend.

From early morning sunrises and battling the coastal winds to spotting the Aurora Borealis and enjoying some lovely autumnal weather, it was certainly a weekend to remember!

The cadets put their classroom-based training into practice, demonstrating their navigation skills, carrying and organising their kit, and setting up camp along the way. They showed fantastic teamwork throughout the expedition.

With their expedition section now complete, they’ll be working towards finishing the remaining sections over the winter, ready to take on their Silver DofE next Adventure Training season! 🥈🥾

A massive thank you the dedicated staff team for organising the weekend and assessing our cadets.

✈️ Day 3 of ✈️

Today, we’re shining a light on our CFAVs and the hard work that goes on behind the scenes.

Last night, during our monthly sports evening, cadets from came together to reflect on the staff team and everything they do to support our squadron.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved with 346 (Tynemouth) Squadron. From planning and organising to teaching, supporting and giving up their time, our volunteers help make the cadet experience so fantastic.

💙 We Will Remember Them 💙

With Remembrance Sunday approaching, cadets from have been taking the time to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice and learn more about the stories behind the names on the war graves in our local community through the EOHO scheme with the CWGC.

This weekend, cadets visited Preston Cemetery for a tour of the war graves, learning about some of the significant events that took place locally during the war, including the bombing of a lemonade factory in North Shields, which resulted in one of the largest single losses of life from a bombing in the area.

Cadets also learned about local heroes and those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Following some training from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission on how to properly care for and preserve the headstones, our cadets paid their respects by carefully cleaning a number of the headstones and the Stone of Remembrance.

A huge thank you to all the cadets who took part and to Michael Dale for the fantastic and informative tour.

We plan to return to Preston Cemetery to continue our work and help ensure the headstones remain clean and readable, so those who lost their lives are never forgotten.

Today, cadets from 346 and 1156 (Whitley Bay) Squadron Air Training Corps, 2344 (Longbenton) Air Cadet Squadron, and 1151 (Wallsend) Sqn ATC, joined forces for the annual Battle of Britain parade and service.

Eighty-six years ago, 'The Few' took to the skies to protect our freedom in the summer and autumn of 1940, changing the course of World War Two.

This afternoon, the next generation stood shoulder-to-shoulder at the Cenotaph in Whitley Bay, to ensure the sacrifice so many courageous RAF pilots and air crew made, is never lost to time.

We are exceptionally proud of every cadet on parade today. Their immaculate turn-out, discipline, and teamwork perfectly reflected the enduring values of the RAF Air Cadets.

Thank you to the veterans, civic leaders, and wider community who joined us to remember the RAF's legacy and support the next generation keeping history alive.

✈️ Cadet Bakers’ Camp Experience ✈️

What happens when you send a cadet away on camp? A LOT!

Cadet Baker has been sharing her experience from an action-packed camp at RAF Waddington, with a week full of new experiences, challenges and plenty of opportunities to get stuck in.

From archery, STEM and team-building activities to exploring museums and learning about RAF history, there was something different to experience every day.

One of the highlights was visiting the International Bomber Command Centre, where they got to try on historical uniforms and take part in an interactive WWII aircraft game. They also visited Newark Air Museum and had the chance to explore even more aviation history.

There were plenty of opportunities to get hands-on too, including visits to RAF units where cadets could see some of the equipment used by personnel, get an insight into different roles.

But the highlight of the whole camp? Sitting in a Red Arrow! 🚀 Cadet Baker got the opportunity to sit inside one of the famous aircraft and learn more about the Red Arrows.

The fun didn’t stop there, with bowling, fire brigade activities, water cannons, hose rolling competitions and even getting to try on a dry suit! And, of course, no camp would be complete without a disco, pizza and spending time with the friends made throughout the week.

From aviation and military experiences to making new friends and memories, this is exactly what being a cadet is all about.

🧗‍♂️ NO ORDINARY DAY FOR 🎯

Cadets from took on a day full of challenges, teamwork and plenty of new experiences at Whickham Thorns Activity Centre.

The day kicked off with the high ropes course, with some cadets racing each other to the top, while others focused on pushing themselves and overcoming their fears. A fantastic effort from everyone!

Next up was a test of teamwork and balance as cadets took on the crate towers. With plenty of shaking legs, not everyone quite made it to 10 crates, but the determination and teamwork on show were fantastic.

Then it was time to test their precision with tomahawk throwing, with some impressive scores along the way.

After lunch, the challenges continued with a wooden obstacle course, followed by a bushcraft session. Things soon became competitive as staff and cadets battled it out to see who could get their fire going first — and keep it going!

To finish an action-packed day, the cadets were spun around and sent flying down the snow tubing slope.

A brilliant day of challenging ourselves, building teamwork and, most importantly, having fun!

🚀 A new space guru has landed at Tynemouth

Sgt Stafford from recently had the fantastic opportunity to attend a North Region Gold Space Course, getting the chance to explore the world of space and discover more about the opportunities available, achieve his MOI Lanyard and being one of only 4 Cadets in Durham Northumberland with a Gold Space Badge.

During the week, Sgt Stafford got to hear from experts working in the space industry, including a NASA scientist and a former Head of UK Space Command, giving him an insight into what a career in space could look like.

He also got hands-on with some exciting STEM activities, including launching bottle rockets fitted with accelerometers to measure the G-forces experienced during launch!

Alongside all of this, Sgt has been working with the Space Syllabus, developing his knowledge, skills and teaching methods. This allowed him to pass assessments to achieve his Method of Instruction Lanyard allowing him to now teach and pass on his knowledge at the Squadron.

Another fantastic opportunity for one of our cadets and a great example of the experiences available through the RAF Air Cadets.
