πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§βš“ South Tyneside Armed Forces Day 2026 βš“πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

On Sunday 21st June, we were privileged to take part in our hometown's Armed Forces Day parade alongside fellow cadet organisations from across the borough, including Hebburn Sea Cadets and Royal Marine Cadets, Jarrow Sea Cadets, 324 South Shields Squadron ATC - RAF Air Cadets, Durham Army Cadet Force and Northumbria Police Cadets 🫑

The turnout from all of our cadet forces was fantastic, and every cadet who marched and stood proudly throughout the service deserves enormous credit, especially in the warm conditions. You're a credit to your units, detachments and organisations! πŸ‘

It was also our cadet, AC Archie's, first of many duties as Mayor's Cadet for 2026/27 πŸ‘

Following the service, we continued the day with our annual recruitment stand, where we had the pleasure of meeting members of the public, the Armed Forces community, local organisations, potential recruits, and friends and family. Visitors were able to see two of our boats, 'Pickle' and our Wheelyboat, and some of our equipment we use during our weekly training and activitiesπŸŽ–οΈ

πŸ™ A huge thank you to the Events team at South Tyneside Council for their continued support and for organising another brilliant event.

An even bigger thank you goes to our dedicated cadets and staff who turned out to represent our unit and Tyne South Sea Cadets so professionally. You should be very proud.

πŸ’™ Finally, thank you to all our followers and everyone who stopped by to visit us throughout the day. It's always a pleasure to meet and chat with you all! πŸ’™

βοΈβš“ WHAT A WEEK! βš“βοΈ

We kicked off the week on Monday by celebrating the fantastic success of our rowing teams, who brought home GOLD πŸ₯‡ at last weekend’s District Rowing Regatta! Their victory means they’ll be representing the district at the Northern Area Competition in Scotland in just a couple of weeks. Good luck, team! βοΈπŸŽ‰πŸš£

On Thursday evening, we were honoured to attend a celebration at South Shields Town Hall hosted by the Mayor and Mayoress of South Tyneside. During the event, we were delighted to witness one of our cadets, AC Archie, become South Tyneside’s FIRST Sea Cadets representative to be appointed Mayor’s Cadet for 2026/2027! πŸŽ‰πŸ‘

AC Archie’s first official engagement will take place this Sunday alongside the Army and RAFAC Mayor’s Cadet representatives. We can’t wait to see what he achieves during his year in the role and would like to congratulate him on behalf of the entire ship’s company at TS Collingwood! βš“πŸ’™

Friday night’s parade evening was packed with activity! Our Junior Cadets got stuck in learning all about the Royal Marines Cadets, taking part in a range of activities – including trying out some camouflage cream! 😎

While the juniors were mastering their disguise skills, our rowers were back on the water training hard for the upcoming Area Competition, focusing on teamwork, timing, and rowing in sync. πŸš£β€β™€οΈπŸ’ͺ

Meanwhile, some of our dedicated adult volunteers spent today preparing for the local Armed Forces Day event at Bents Park, taking place tomorrow. πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸŽͺ

We’re looking forward to joining the parade and the fun day in the park afterwards, where you’ll find us showcasing our unit, recruiting new members, and displaying some of our boats. Come along and say hello! πŸ‘‹βš“

Interested in getting involved and trying some of the amazing activities we’ve enjoyed this week? We’re currently recruiting both adult volunteers and young people to join our crew! πŸŒŠβš“

🌟 A Night of Celebrations, Promotions & Farewells at South Shields Sea Cadets! 🌟

Tonight, we had the pleasure of presenting certificates, celebrating promotions, and marking an important transition for one of our cadets! πŸ‘βš“

πŸ… First up, JC Daniel!

Daniel was presented with his Start Paddlesports Certificate, which he recently achieved at Derwenthaugh Boat Station. A fantastic achievement and the first step on an exciting paddlesports journey! Well done, Danielβ€”we look forward to seeing you achieve your Paddle Discover Award next! πŸš£β€β™‚οΈπŸ‘

🫑Welcome aboard, PPO Graham!

Vikki has been a dedicated Sea Cadet parent for almost 10 years and more recently joined our Parents & Supporters Group. We are delighted to announce that she has now become a Probationary Petty Officer and is beginning her journey as a Uniformed Adult Volunteer. We can't wait to see her take on this new role. Congratulations and welcome aboard! πŸ‘βš“

πŸŽ‰ From Cadet to CFAV – Congratulations, Daniel!

This week, Cadet Cpl Daniel celebrated his 18th birthday and officially made the transition to becoming an Adult Volunteer as he joins our team of CFAVs at South Shields. It was my pleasure to present him with a Certificate of Appreciation recognising his dedication and achievements during almost eight years as a cadet. Thank you for everything you've contributed, and welcome to the adult volunteer team! πŸ’šπŸ€

πŸ‘ Congratulations to CI Quirke!

CI Quirke has successfully completed all of his onboarding requirements and will now be supporting the NEC Division. Well done on delivering your first session this eveningβ€”teaching all about uniform care! We look forward to seeing you continue to develop in your new role. πŸ‘”βš“

🚒 Farewell (but not goodbye!) to PO Kerr!

A huge thank you to PO Kerr, who spent his final evening with us before moving on. We are incredibly grateful for the support, commitment, and dedication you have shown to South Shields Sea Cadets while completing your ETO training at college.
We wish you every success for the future and hope you'll pop back to visit whenever you're ashore and not having too much fun at sea! πŸ©΅βš“πŸš’

It is always a privilege to write posts like these. Seeing the achievements, growth, and dedication of our incredible crew makes us immensely proud to be part of this unit.πŸ’™

β˜€οΈ Last week (when the sun was still shining! 😎), our Junior Sea Cadets had the unit all to themselves for an evening of boating activities on the water! πŸš£βš“

It was a fantastic evening filled with fun, new experiences, and valuable skill development for our Junior Sea Cadets at South Shields. Our senior cadets also joined us, using the opportunity to develop their leadership skills while supporting the juniorsβ€”many of whom were getting afloat for the very first time! πŸŒŠπŸ‘

A huge thank you to our dedicated adult volunteers and senior cadets who worked together to deliver such a brilliant evening on the water for our young people. πŸ’™

Interested in joining the adventure? We’re currently recruiting both cadets (aged 9–17) and adult volunteers! βš“

πŸŽ‰ After a year of dedicated fundraising, last month some of our cadets finally got to enjoy an unforgettable week away at Great Tower Camp, Newby Bridge, in the beautiful Lake District πŸŒ„ β€” and what an incredible week it was alongside the wonderful Scouts team and leaders on site!

Packed full of adventure, challenge and fun πŸ’ͺ, the cadets threw themselves into a huge range of exciting activities, including canoeing 🚣, ghyll scrambling 🌊, archery 🎯, rock climbing πŸ§—, abseiling πŸͺ’, team-building challenges 🀝, and problem-solving and leadership exercises, amongst more! 🧠.

It was fantastic to see every cadet stepping outside of their comfort zone, supporting one another, and showing determination, resilience and teamwork throughout the week ⭐.

Whether scaling heights, taking on new challenges, or encouraging their teammates, everyone gave 100% and made memories that will last a lifetime ✨.

Trips like this provide so much more than just adventure β€” they help build confidence, develop leadership skills, strengthen friendships and create experiences our cadets will never forget, we can’t wait to head back next year, for our second visit, for more adventures! πŸ™Œ
