Congratulations to another finalist for the Dimensions Leaders' List, Marc from Wrexham!

Marc loves Christmas and wanted to share that joy with local children. After raising more than £300 by swimming lengths at his local pool, he created a free Christmas grotto complete with lights, decorations and gifts for nursery children in his community.

Now in its second year, the grotto has become a much-loved local event, with one nursery praising Marc's warmth, positivity and the special welcome he gives every child who visits.

We're delighted to see Marc recognised as a finalist for the creativity, determination and kindness he brings!

We're thrilled to share the Monkey Park team at finalists for the Dimensions Leaders Awards!

People from lifelong learning hubs across Chesterfield came together with a simple idea: use their skills and interests to do something positive in their local community.

The result was Soup and Chat, a welcoming community café using surplus food to create affordable lunches, reduce waste and bring people together.

Their nomination highlights the partnerships, friendships and opportunities that have grown from those Tuesday afternoons, along with the warm welcome that keeps people coming back.

This , we're sharing Gemma's story.

Gemma lives with Type 3c diabetes, a less well-known form of diabetes linked to damage to the pancreas. Alongside managing other health conditions, she has learned how to understand her body, make choices that work for her, and fit diabetes management into everyday life.

In her blog, Gemma talks honestly about the challenges of living with Type 3c diabetes, from monitoring blood sugar levels and managing food choices to the freedom she has gained through technology such as her Libre monitor. She also shares practical tips and encouragement for others living with diabetes.

As Gemma says: "I can still do what I want to do... it's not the end of the world having diabetes and you can have a little of what you fancy as long as you are careful."

🎉 Three decades of support, friendship and community!

Crosby Close in St Albans has celebrated a very special milestone: 30 years of supporting people to live 'gloriously ordinary lives'.

Despite the rain, people who live at Crosby, their families, staff, friends and special guests came together to reflect on three decades of achievements, memories and community.

A highlight of the day was the unveiling of a beautiful commemorative mosaic bench, created and donated by participants from HACRO's TurnAround programme with support from Montet Designs and Emmaus St Albans.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this important anniversary, and a special thanks to Colleen Considine, who took the wonderful photos.

This Diabetes Week, let's change how we talk about diabetes. 8 out of 10 people living with diabetes say they’ve faced negative attitudes because of their diabetes - people passing judgement, making sweeping statements, or blaming and shaming people living with diabetes. This is diabetes stigma. A...

💜 Volunteers' Week is about celebrating everyone who gives their time, skills and energy to help others.

At MacIntyre, we're grateful for the volunteers who support our work. But we're equally proud when people we support use their own talents to volunteer in their communities.

That's exactly what PJ has been doing with Warrington's Garden Gang.

Wanting to make new friends and try new experiences, PJ joined a project to improve an outdoor space at a local children's centre. Along the way he learned new gardening, painting and DIY skills, built friendships and grew in confidence.

💬 "I enjoyed working at the children’s centre as it’s a peaceful and relaxing environment. I love getting my hands dirty gardening and I like working with my mates in the group too."

This Volunteers' Week, we're celebrating people like PJ who are making a difference for others while discovering what they're capable of themselves.

It's Volunteers Week and we're celebrating the incredible people who give their time, skills and energy to support MacIntyre.

Volunteering takes many forms. Some people share their talents through craft sessions, music groups, gardening projects and other activities in our services and learning centres. Others join us through corporate volunteering days, helping to improve the spaces where people live, learn and thrive.

A recent visit from the team at Omron to our Beanhill learning centre in Milton Keynes is a great example. They spent the day transforming the garden, clearing overgrown areas, tidying outdoor spaces and creating a brighter, more welcoming environment for everyone to enjoy.

What stood out most wasn't just the work they completed, but the way they got involved. As one colleague reflected afterwards, it felt less like a corporate volunteering day and more like people coming together to help.

Thank you to every volunteer who supports MacIntyre. You make a real difference.
