Essie's grandmother relies on unripe mangoes to ease the pain of hunger. 💔

This is the heartbreaking reality for millions across Malawi, where a state of disaster has been declared due to a severe food crisis. No child should have to survive this way.

But we can change this story. Child Sponsorship provides immediate, life-saving support to children facing severe hunger, ensuring they get the nutrition, care, and future they deserve. Your support shifts a community from crisis to hope.

Child Sponsorship means every 5 minutes a hungry child gets emergency food.

As the World Cup kicks off, we’re celebrating a different kind of champion. ⚽

At 11 years old, Sury loves football and playing with her friends in Guatemala but before joining World Vision’s "Sowers of Hope" project, she was so shy that she would skip school presentations out of fear. 🛑

World Vision stepped in by creating safe community spaces where children can learn, play, and grow. 🤝

Through tailored team-building games, leadership activities, and sports, World Vision staff helped Sury build her confidence, find her voice, and realise that her opinion matters. 📣 Today, she stands tall as the democratically elected president of her project's youth board. 🌟

That is the incredible, life-changing impact World Vision Child Sponsorship creates for future leaders every single day. 🌍

A powerful magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck Mindanao in the Philippines at 7:37 local time, just as millions of children were returning to school for the first day of the academic year.

So far, 19 people have died and 129 have been injured, with numbers expected to increase as assessments continue.

World Vision teams in Mindanao are safe and checking on the wellbeing of children, families, and staff across the affected provinces as aftershocks continue.

“We are continually monitoring the safety of children, their families, and all staff in the affected areas to ensure that everyone is accounted for… Many remain shaken and are experiencing dizziness following the earthquake and aftershocks.”
Elizabeth Delgado, World Vision Operations Manager for Mindanao

Children have described the fear and confusion as the quake hit during school ceremonies: “Some of our classmates were crying… The teachers helped us stay safe and told us to ‘duck, cover, and hold.’”
Kurt, 16, World Vision assisted child

World Vision staff in the Philippines have also shared their experiences of rushing to safety amid falling debris and power outages.

Dr Herbert Carpio, World Vision Philippines National Director, emphasised: “In disasters of this magnitude, children are often the most vulnerable… We stand ready to respond with emergency relief and child protection interventions.”

🙏 Please pray for children and their families in the Philippines as they face fear, disruption, and uncertainty in the hours ahead.

🧡 World Vision is there. Keep checking for updates as our teams assess needs and support affected children and families.

When Ebola reaches a city, it doesn't just threaten lives it threatens the entire community's future.

In the DRC, the surge in Ebola cases has left families facing an incredibly dangerous reality. The World Health Organisation has declared it a global health emergency.

We are rapidly upscaling our response to protect affected communities.

In partnership with WFP (World Food Program), World Vision has launched food assistance support to help - providing hot meals to patients and staff at Beni General Referral Hospital, alongside delivering food rations to households of confirmed contacts.

Child sponsorship means more than education...

It means a strong start to life and hope for the future.
In a village in Bangladesh, sponsors have partnered with the local community to create something powerful: an early learning programme called Learning Roots.

Here, children like Korno learn through play, while building the confidence, skills and routines they need to step into school ready to thrive.

Because when communities are empowered and children are given the right start, whole futures change.

What happens when you sponsor a child? You give them their childhood back. ✨

In a community in Tanzania, 21 years of sponsorship transformed the community so deeply that 100% of children now report feeling completely safe.

The impact of sponsors made this possible:
🔸School dropout rates plummeted from 12% to just 0.5%.
🔸Over 90% of toddlers are now fully immunised against dangerous diseases.
🔸Reading comprehension more than doubled.

When school is safe, health is cared for, and meals are guaranteed, kids don’t have to worry about surviving. They can live, thrive, and play. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Child Sponsorship means kids can be kids.
