MKAM: Slow Riding Session – what next?
Thank you to all who made it to our Slow Riding session today.
The feedback has been brilliant – it seems everyone got something positive out of the session and many of you have requested more dates.
I wanted to invite you along to an IAM RoadSmart Advanced Rider taster session with our group. It’s a relaxed, no-pressure opportunity to experience what the Advanced Rider course is all about and see how it could benefit your riding.
The session usually includes a short ride out with one of our experienced Observers, followed by a chat over a coffee about your riding, the course, and what you’d get from it.
The Advanced Rider course isn’t about turning you into a track rider or criticising your riding style — it’s about helping you become smoother, safer, more confident and more in control on the road. Riders often find they:
· Improve their cornering and machine control
· Feel more confident in traffic and on longer rides
· Develop better observation and planning skills
· Enjoy riding even more
· Potentially reduce insurance costs through fewer claims
Most importantly, it’s enjoyable and tailored to your experience level. Whether you’ve been riding for 6 months or 20 years, there’s always something useful to take away.
If you live in Milton Keynes or North Bucks and if you’d like to come along and give it a try, just let me know and we can arrange a date that suits you.
Hope to see you soon.

Be a better biker is back for 2026

Whether you’re a relatively new biker, returning to motorcycling, or a rider who has years of experience behind you, anyone is welcome at the Be a Better Biker workshops.

All bikers can expect help and support in taking their skills to the next level – whether you want to improve your riding skills or to get up to date with the latest training.

No matter if you ride a superbike, classic, or tourer, as long as you have a full license, the Be a Better Biker workshops are right for you!

Each workshop costs £25 per biker and lasts about five hours.

The day covers the principles of advanced riding including:

Overtaking
Cornering techniques
On-road assessment with observers (approximately two hours)
A review of the on-road sessions (discussing lessons learnt)
At the end of the session each candidate will receive personal feedback from an advanced rider to help improve their riding and the opportunity to join the IAM.
