In July we started a partnership with FareShare North East who supply us with surplus food that we put to good use through our community kitchen. It's meant a real drop in our food bill — and a lot more on the menu.

It wasn't straightforward at first. A big, unpredictable delivery of surplus food landing at the centre is a different job to planning a weekly shop. But our sessional team Emma and Abbi, have taken it in their stride, and continue to use their imagination, creativity and enthusiasm to provide excellent meals daily.

It's not just for people who need low prices or people trying to survive hard times - anyone can buy from us and it all goes to supporting the work we do in our community.

Affordable furniture isn't a nice-to-have for people moving on from homelessness, prison, domestic abuse, or asylum accommodation. It's the difference between a tenancy that holds and one that doesn't.

Our community shop in Middlesbrough furnishes homes for people starting again — sofas, beds, kettles, plates, the lot — at prices that work on minimal benefits.

A house clearance, an office refit, end-of-line stock, a relative's estate — all of these can become the contents of a first home for someone rebuilding their life.

We offer a free collection service across Middlesbrough and surrounding areas, tailored to the donor — whether you're acting on behalf of a family member, clearing a property after bereavement, or coordinating an organisational clear-out.

If you, your team, or someone in your network has stock or donations to move, please get in touch.

We can also offer wider support around setting up a home — the basics that don't always sit within a tenancy start-up grant. Get in touch if you've got someone moving in this month who needs more than four walls.

We need your donations!

Clothes, toys, bric-a-brac...the lot.

We sell donated furniture, clothing, household items and electricals — at prices accessible to people on minimal benefits — and that's why we need your old sofa, clothes, wardrobe, toys and more.

This stuff isn't a nice-to-have for some people - it's the difference made.
