💬 "I learned something new about career opportunities."
That's what every single student told us after our recent event at Freebrough Academy.

We were delighted to welcome year 9 and year 10 students for a afternoon of confidence building with POW role models from a range of industries.

The impact speaks for itself:
✨ 100% learned something new about career opportunities
✨ 100% would recommend the event to other students
✨ 95% feel more prepared to talk to professionals
✨ 93% feel more confident about their future

Students told us their favourite parts of the morning included hearing about different careers, listening to the panel discussion, meeting new people, stepping outside their comfort zones and speaking directly with role models.

One of the strongest messages from the feedback? They wanted more time!

A huge thank you to our fantastic role models for sharing their experiences so openly and helping to inspire the next generation. By creating opportunities for young people to connect with professionals, we can help broaden horizons, build confidence and show students that there are many different pathways to success.

A huge thank you to Station Suites Middlesbrough, for sponsoring today’s Business Networking Brunch ☕️🍰

They went above and beyond to create a truly special morning, complete with bouquet making 🌹💐, delicious iced coffees and smoothies, and an incredible brunch spread.

It was wonderful to see so many meaningful connections being made, with exciting conversations and inspiring collaborations already taking shape to support young people across our region 💜

Station Suites Middlesbrough

✨ We teamed up with Thalia Waste Management and Boroughbridge High School for a career inspiration day with year 9 girls 💥

During the event students explored a range of exciting career opportunities including operations, human resources, accounting, social media, and environmental management.

The students then networked with Thalia staff and gained insights into apprenticeship opportunities from a current apprentice 👷‍♀️
The students toured the facility which allowed them to view how waste is recovered, reduced or recycled as well as talking to different members of staff ♻️

The programme has helped the students to build their personal confidence and also to feel happy speaking in a group situation and engaging well with new people, this will help for careers and employability skills 👩‍🎓

Our Primary School Ambassador Programme gives pupils the chance to build confidence, develop leadership skills, explore different careers and challenge stereotypes from an early age. 🌟

We’re looking to connect with more primary schools who’d love to bring inspiring role models and real career insight into the classroom.

Thank you Consultants Choice Clinic for sponsoring and hosting our April PoWwow.

It was an incredible morning bringing together so many inspiring women from across Teesside for connection, conversation and shared learning.

There’s something really powerful about creating a space where people feel comfortable to talk openly and support one another. This was evident in the conversations around Women's Health and our challenges.

A real highlight was the women’s health talk and Q&A with Mr Emmanouil Damigos, insightful, engaging and a reminder of just how important it is to keep pushing forward conversations around women’s health.

Events like this are what POW is all about. Bringing local women together and sparking important discussions to move the dial.

From classrooms to boardrooms, from first conversations to life-changing opportunities… Power of Women has grown into something truly special and it’s all because of this incredible community.

A special thank you to our founder, The late Professor Dr Jane Turner OBE DL CCMI, whose vision, passion, and determination sparked this campaign and continues to inspire everything we do.

To every school, every business, every board members, every role model, every supporter… thank you. You’ve helped build something that’s creating real change, every single day.

And we’re just getting started 💫

This International Women’s Day, the theme is .

At Power of Women, we see the power of that idea every day.

When businesses give their time, experience and encouragement as role models in our schools, young people gain confidence, perspective and belief in what might be possible for them.

When professionals share their journeys the successes, the setbacks and the steps in between, students gain a clearer picture of their own potential.

But the impact flows both ways. Many of the role models who volunteer with us tell us they leave feeling inspired, re-energised and proud to be part of something bigger.

By giving time, knowledge and support to the next generation, we all gain stronger communities, greater opportunity and a more equal future.
