The picture may have been created using AI, but sadly, the story behind it is very real.
Cases like this are becoming more and more common, with some owners overwhelmed to the point where they no longer know how many cats are living in their care.
Although we are a separate charity from RSPCA National, that does not mean we face these challenges alone. Wherever possible, we work together to give vulnerable animals the help they so desperately need.
RSPCA Middlesbrough, Teesside & District have supported the National Inspectors by helping to neuter cats in homes with large cat populations. This vital work helps stop numbers from continuing to rise and gives the cats already there a better chance of receiving the care, comfort, and attention they deserve.
In one heart breaking case, Inspectors rescued 70 cats and kittens from one house in the area. Faced with so many vulnerable animals in urgent need, RSPCA Cat Rehoming Hub volunteers opened their homes and their hearts, providing safe foster care, comfort, and compassion until each cat and kitten was ready for the loving forever home they deserved.
We are now facing a crisis. Every single day, more cats are needing our help, and that help can look different for every animal — from neutering and welfare support to emergency foster care, rehoming, and simply giving them a chance at a safer, happier life.
None of this would be possible without people working together, and without you — our incredible supporters. Your kindness, donations, encouragement, and compassion mean that when cats are in need, we can be there for them.
