The picture may have been created using AI, but sadly, the story behind it is very real.

Cases like this are becoming more and more common, with some owners overwhelmed to the point where they no longer know how many cats are living in their care.

Although we are a separate charity from RSPCA National, that does not mean we face these challenges alone. Wherever possible, we work together to give vulnerable animals the help they so desperately need.

RSPCA Middlesbrough, Teesside & District have supported the National Inspectors by helping to neuter cats in homes with large cat populations. This vital work helps stop numbers from continuing to rise and gives the cats already there a better chance of receiving the care, comfort, and attention they deserve.

In one heart breaking case, Inspectors rescued 70 cats and kittens from one house in the area. Faced with so many vulnerable animals in urgent need, RSPCA Cat Rehoming Hub volunteers opened their homes and their hearts, providing safe foster care, comfort, and compassion until each cat and kitten was ready for the loving forever home they deserved.

We are now facing a crisis. Every single day, more cats are needing our help, and that help can look different for every animal — from neutering and welfare support to emergency foster care, rehoming, and simply giving them a chance at a safer, happier life.

None of this would be possible without people working together, and without you — our incredible supporters. Your kindness, donations, encouragement, and compassion mean that when cats are in need, we can be there for them.

‼️MISSING CAT‼️

Relic has been missing from his home in the Rose Lane, DL1 2DE area since Tuesday night.

He is 6-7 years old, is usually an indoor cat but has escaped a couple of times. He normally returns within a couple of hours, so this is very out of character for him to be away from home for so long. We believe he is microchipped and possibly registered to an address in Northallerton.

Please check garages, outbuildings or sheds in case he has got locked in somewhere and please keep an eye out for him as his family are missing him terribly.

If you have spotted him, or handed a cat that matches his description into a local vets, please contact us or this number 👉 07427836693

Thank you 🙏

Sharing from our friends at RSPCA Bridlington, Driffield & District Branch some great advice for this time of the year on what to do if you find a bird or baby bird

Please share 🥰

🐦 FOUND A BABY BIRD? 🐦

Stop. Look. Then Help the Right Way.

Every year, well-meaning people accidentally rescue healthy young birds that don’t actually need rescuing.

🪶 IF THE BIRD HAS FEATHERS…

It’s probably a fledgling.

✅ Leave it alone
✅ Keep cats, dogs and people away
✅ Watch from a distance

Fledglings naturally leave the nest before they can fly well. Their parents are usually nearby and still feeding them.

🚨 THE BIRD NEEDS HELP IF:

❌ It is injured or bleeding
❌ You know the parents are dead
❌ It has been monitored for over several hours with no sign of parents returning
❌ It is in immediate danger

In these situations, contact a wildlife rescue centre or vet as soon as possible.

❤️ REMEMBER

Bird parents care for their babies better than we can.

When in doubt, observe first and intervene only when necessary.

It's a day to recognise the older felines in our life and those still waiting for their retirement homes in rescue.

Mature cats make fantastic members of the family however, many of them stay in rescue much longer then their younger more active feline friends.

Why adopt a mature cat?
* They are less energetic
* Litter trained
* They have fully developed
* They can suit busier lifestyles
* and obviously they are GAWGEOUS

There are older cats right up and down the country looking for a special home right now RSPCA Cat Rehoming Hub and RSPCA - Great Ayton Animal Centre have some gorgeous cats just waiting for their forever home.

Just like the beautiful Smudge (pictured below), this girl loves affection and food (who doesn't)

As a small independent branch of the RSPCA we are so proud and thankful of our relationships with other Branches of the RSPCA and rescues.

We can't do this alone and team work really does make the dream work in this instance.

Thank you to our friends these angels are safe and well

And thank you to you, our supporters and members we can continue to work together

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work 🐾❤️

Recently, we were alerted by the RSPCA Middlesbrough, Teesside & District Branch to an urgent situation involving several cats and kittens in need of help.

We’re incredibly grateful to have been able to work collaboratively with the wonderful team at cat and kitten rescue - in memory of Sassy James 1999-2011. A huge thank you goes to Lise James, who put in all the hard work on the ground, safely trapping and rescuing the kittens.

The kittens are now safe and settling into the care of our amazing foster carers, while the adult cats have been neutered as part of a TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) programme to help prevent further litters.

Collaboration between rescues is so important. By working together, sharing resources, knowledge and support, we can help more cats and kittens get the second chance they deserve ❤️

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this rescue possible 🐾✨
