Action on Male Su***de: National Conversations

Male su***de rates represent a public health crisis. We urgently need to understand what is putting men at risk - and what we can do to provide better support.

Join male su***de researcher Dr Susie Bennett and local people leading change for men to explore the latest research, hear local experiences, and discuss priorities for change.

Monday 9th November, 10am-5pm, Acklam Green Centre - https://actiononmalesu***de.org/events/

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms screening by invite

Calling all men of the North East

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms (AAA) are a weakening in the aorta (the main artery in your body) that can swell and rupture causing fatal internal bleeding. They usually don’t have symptoms and are most common in men aged over 65.

AAA screening is a free NHS national programme that invites men in the year they turn 65, to attend a quick and painless 10 minute ultrasound scan.

You will receive your invitation through the post when you’re eligible. Please DON’T ignore it. It could save your life!

If you need to rearrange your appointment give us a call on: 0191 445 8747

Yesterday, Gaynor and Gill had the pleasure of visiting NUR Fitness to chat with local women about what ageing well means to them in Middlesbrough and how carers can have their voices heard. 💜

Alongside some health checks, including blood pressure monitoring, we enjoyed some delicious biryani and most importantly, heard valuable insights and experiences that will help shape future support and services.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to speak with us and share their views.

Take Your Time Walks at Guisborough Forest

Dates: 14th & 28th October, 11th & 25th November and 9th & 16th December 11am-12pm fortnightly on Wednesdays

These walks are aimed at people who may need a slower and shorter pace, possibly with reduced mobility, recovering from injury or those needing a gentler option for their activity needs.

Mobility scooters, aids, carers are all welcome and the walks are aiming to be dementia friendly too.

We will be using our new accessible to most trail which is approx 1.6k long with benches every 100m and options to cut it shorter. We will also invite people to join us for a cuppa and some social time afterwards.

💚 World Mental Health Day | 10 October

Every year on 10 October, people around the world come together to recognise World Mental Health Day and raise awareness of the importance of mental wellbeing.

Poor mental health is not inevitable, and World Mental Health Day is an opportunity for us all to start conversations, reduce stigma, and think about how we can support ourselves and others.

Together, we can create communities, workplaces and environments where everyone has the opportunity to achieve better mental health and wellbeing.

💬 Take a moment to check in with yourself and those around you.
