Over the last 12 months, Teesside Mind’s Dementia Advisory Outreach Service has been supporting people living with dementia and their families across Redcar and Cleveland.

Our team offers guidance, reassurance, and practical support when it’s needed most.
📊 Here’s the impact over the last 12 months:

💙 116 carers supported through STaRT workshops
💙 168 people supported through 1-2-1 support
💙 284 people supported in total

These figures represent so much more than numbers. They reflect conversations, shared experiences, advice and reassurance for people navigating the challenges that dementia can bring.

Through workshops and individual support, we help people living with dementia, their families and unpaid carers feel informed, supported and less alone. 💙

We’re proud of the difference this service makes in our community.

👏 We're delighted to share that Susan Lee, our Primary Care Co-ordinator , has been shortlisted as one of five finalists for a Carers UK Award.

💙 She's been recognised for her amazing work supporting unpaid carers across South Tees to make sure they are seen, heard and valued.

Sue works with GP practices to help them become more carer friendly. Thanks to her dedication, knowledge and passion, in the last year alone, 13 practices have achieved Carer Friendly status and seven more are working towards accreditation.

🍀Good luck today, Sue, from all your colleagues here at Teesside Mind!

In the last financial year, we supported 37,691 local people through our services.

As the needs of our community continue to grow, we’ve expanded many of our existing services and launched new ones to reach more people and provide the right support when it’s needed most.

Here’s how we made a difference:

💙 1:1 support – 80% of people using our services received ongoing, person-centred, community-based support.

💙 Mental health training – 1,650 people received mental health training to help improve awareness and understanding.

💙 Group sessions – 875 people accessed group support through our community services, connecting with others and finding support together.

Every number represents a person, a story and a step towards better mental health.

Sometimes, connecting with someone who understands can make all the difference.

Mutual Minds is our peer support service for people working towards mental health recovery.

Delivered by people with their own lived experience of mental health challenges, the service offers a chance to talk, feel heard and explore your recovery journey alongside someone who understands.

Whether you're looking to rebuild confidence, reconnect with your community or find hope for the future, peer support can help you take steps at your own pace.

Know someone who might benefit from peer support? Mutual Minds could be a good place to start. Find out more about referrals via the link below:

World Mental Health Day 🌎💙

Today is a reminder that mental health matters, and that it's okay to ask for help when things feel difficult.

We all experience ups and downs, and sometimes we need a little extra support. Whether it's talking to someone, finding ways to manage how we're feeling or connecting with others, there are different ways to look after our mental health.

We offer a range of services to support people across our community, from talking therapies and peer support to services for children, young people and carers.
