A massive thank you to staff of McDonalds Culverhouse Cross and Vale Councillor Ian Perry for a fantastic litter pick of the surrounding area. A shout out to Nicola of McDonalds who arranges a number of regular litter picks across the local McDonalds, making a big difference.

Just before the peak of the heat this week, The staff of Mc Donalds Newbridge did a community litterpick with support form Debbie our Blaenau Gwent Officer. The staff volunteered there time and collected 9 bags of litter form near the rugby pitch and river. Diolch

♻ Thank you to our brilliant volunteers and partnership organisations that came out on a hot, sunny afternoon to clean the River Ebbw and streets of Llanhilleth, as part of A Grand Week in Wales.

💪 The Gwent Wildlife Trust, Natural Resources Wales, South East Wales River Trust, Cllr Helen Cunningham, Granny's Wood and Llanhilleth Tenants and Residents Group joined us for a rewarding litterpicking session.

🚮 30 bags of litter, including lots of clothing items were predominantly collected from the River Ebbw, and scrap items including, bikes, scooters and a sofa were rescued from travelling downstream.
Other litter included food and drinks packaging which were collected from neighbouring streets.

🫶 It was also great meeting and engaging with residents throughout the session.

🚛 Waste & Recycling Collections Starting Earlier – Please Put Bins Out by 6am 🚛

Due to the hot weather, waste and recycling collections across Rhondda Cynon Taf will be starting earlier than usual this week.

To ensure your waste and recycling is collected, please place it out by 6:00am on your scheduled collection day.

These earlier start times will help our crews carry out their work safely during the warmer temperatures.

'Due to several unforeseen factors, we have made the decision to postpone this Saturday’s beach clean. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused and will share a new date as soon as one is confirmed and look forward to seeing you at the next clean up.

It’s too hot to tidy!☀️

Due to the current weather warnings in place for much of Wales, we’ve made the decision to cancel all outdoor events scheduled for today and tomorrow.

We’re incredibly grateful for everything our volunteers do to help care for communities, but the safety and wellbeing of our volunteers will always come first.💚

We look forward to supporting you all to get back out there when conditions are safer!

Polite reminder - if you are out and about enjoying a shady spot, think of others and make sure that you take your litter home with you. 😎

Children and staff from Goytre Fawr Primary School have successfully renewed their Eco Schools, Platinum Award.

The children have been working hard to grow their own fruits and vegetables, we ate some delicious strawberries from the gardens.

The teachers are enthusiastic about the topics and the children were eager to show the work they had completed in class.
