November is just around the corner - the darker nights, the colder weather can all effect our mood so if your feeling the effects of winter creeping in, we have a range of individual and group services available to support patients and carers.

Next week we have an additional carers clinic day & our connections cafe is 10 - 12.30 in All Saints church hall.

Wednesday our friends in All Saints are holding their annual tree of remembrance service - a lovely service with tea and cake afterwards to remember those we miss every day.

If your living with cancer, even thinking about your wishes or writing a will can be overwhelming. Thursday the team from RJM will be supporting our patients with a free will - you must be registered with us to access this service. To find out more please contact us.

Friday - The lovely breast cancer support group will be here, they are a very warm welcoming group so if your living with breast cancer, and want to meet others who understand, please pop along no booking required.

What's on this week!

We are operating as normal during half term week with clinics at capacity - if your booked in for an appointment but can not make it for any reason please cancel with at least 24 hours notice - this helps us offer the space to someone else who is waiting to be seen.

Valley steps are here on Wednesday for our grief and loss workshop - this is currently full however if this is something that would benefit you - join our wait list to be added to the next available course.

We have had two cancellations for Thursdays hair salon - this is free for all registered patients and carers and as its half term week we are offering spaces to the public for back to school hair cuts for children - dry cuts for children only £10.00! Please ring to book 01685379633.

Wishing Adam the very best of luck as he takes on one of the most challenging marathons in the UK on Saturday.

Testing his endurance Adam is not just running a marathon, he's running a marathon through the beautiful but hilly Llanberis region of North Wales. Adam set out with a target of raising £500 for Cancer Aid to help us be there for anyone living with cancer in the Merthyr Tydfil area. With thanks to his friends and family he has raised 5 times his original target!

Aberfan 💔

Today we will remember the 144 who lost their lives in 1966 including the 116 children who went to school for what should have been another normal school day. Our hearts are with the friends, families, and community whose lives also changed forever on that day. Sixty years on and the whole community stands with you in your grief and to ensure the lives of those who were lost that day are never forgotten.

On this day in 1966, 60 years later the heart still aches for the small Welsh village of Aberfan was struck by an unthinkable tragedy. 144 lives were lost 116 of them children when a coal tip collapsed onto their school.
It’s a story that broke Wales’ heart, and one that still brings tears generations later. But it’s also a story of love, unity, and resilience a reminder of how our nation stands together in times of sorrow.
Today, we remember them. Always.

Is this the volunteer role you've been looking for?

Our transport continues to support people as they go through diagnosis and treatments. We go to hospitals throughout South Wales including Neville Hall, Morriston, Royal Glamorgan, University Hospital of Wales, Llandough and Velindre.

We are looking for reliable, caring drivers to join our incredible team of volunteers to support the transport service.

Today we held our first autumn wreath make and create workshop. A calm, mindful group activity session which started with a blank canvas and ended with the most beautiful autumnal wreaths.
Guided by the incredibly talented Julia Jenkins from Queens florist, everyone left so proud of what they had created. A morning of getting creative, trying new experiences and ending the session feeling proud of the door wreath they got to take home!

These groups can not take away the heartbreak and challenges of living with a cancer diagnosis but they can provide a little relief, connection with others going through something similar, and give people a reason to feel connected and try new experiences that bring joy and help people learn new skills.

Today we welcomed operations manager Louise, and team leader Gemma from EE to the centre to see our facilities and meet the team.

They very kindly made an incredible donation of £1344.00 which was raised in their charity Golf day on the 30th September which held in Mountain Ash Golf club!

Thank you to everyone who supported the day, from the organisers, volunteers who helped out on the day and of course the golfers who took to the course for a great cause.
