Proceeds will go towards supporting the incredible work of The Mitchell Foundation, providing essential care packages filled with toiletries for parents in hospital experiencing the heartbreak of baby loss ❤️

Join us for the Wave of Light 🕯️

This Thursday (15 October) at 7pm, we will join families and communities around the world in remembering babies gone too soon as part of Baby Loss Awareness Week.
Everyone is welcome to light a candle in memory of a baby who is no longer with us.

📍 Trealaw Cemetery Chapel, CF40 2UQ

Please arrive by 6.45pm for a prompt start.

There will also be a Wave of Light service at Prince Charles Hospital this week on Thursday 15th at 6.45pm and we will share further details from the bereavement midwives at CTMUHB on a separate post 🩷🩵

🩷 💙 This week (October 9-15) marks Baby Loss Awareness Week.

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, on behalf of its residents, sends thoughts of comfort to all grieving members of its community at this time.
It also wishes to remind people that Remembrance Areas are open at Trealaw, Maes-yr-Arian and Treorchy Cemeteries for anyone who wishes to use a peaceful, safe space for reflection and remembrance at any time. Trealaw and Treorchy Remembrance Areas both have new, ornate memorial friezes. People can purchase a leaf, which can be inscribed with a message or memorial to their lost loved-one and installed on the frieze if they choose.
People are invited to join the Council and Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board at the annual Wave of Light Ceremony on October 15 at Trealaw Cemetery from 6.30pm.

Just a gentle reminder that our Merthyr display will be going ip this evening from 6pm so please feel free to pop down between 6pm and 7pm to write/tie a ribbon or send us a message/comment if you would like us to write one for you in either Merthyr or Aberdare 🩵🩷

🩷🩵 Baby Loss Awareness Week 🩵🩷

Baby Loss Awareness Week takes place on 9th - 15th October 2026. It is a time for everyone in the baby loss community and beyond to come together, to remember our much-loved and missed babies as well as a time to raise awareness of pregnancy and baby loss.

This year, Merthyr Sands will be holding two baby loss ribbon displays in Merthyr and Aberdare during the week (details attached) and the week will close with the Wave of Light at 7pm on 15th October.

If you would like to dedicate a ribbon in memory of your baby then please get in touch and we can write your baby’s name on the ribbon and tie it for you OR you are more than welcome to join us at one of the displays or in your own time and tie the ribbon yourself along with family or friends. Our wonderful befrienders are working tirelessly as we speak creating beautiful ribbons for our displays 😍

Please get in touch with any questions and, even if you haven’t been impacted by the loss of a baby but would like to show your support for Baby Loss Awareness week then please feel free to join us at one of our displays, make a donation (the link is below and in our bio) or even just light a candle at 7pm on 15th October for the Wave of Light.

Our July support group is on Tuesday 7th July from 6pm to 8pm. Details are on the poster but please get in touch if you have any questions and also if you need any support in the meantime.

There will be no group in August but there will be some Walk & Talks so keep your eyes peeled for information on those. The next support group after July will be September.
