Our sustainability lead has been at the BASIS conference in Manchester yesterday and today, with Sport England setting the agenda.

A fantastic day at the Youth Sport Trust School Games National Summit, showcasing the Bowl Together School Games programme with just 50 days to go until the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

Delivered in partnership with the British Crown Green Bowling Association, Bowls England, the English Short Mat Bowling Association, and the English Indoor Bowling Association, Bowl Together is helping introduce more young people to bowls through meaningful school and community opportunities.

It was great to connect with so many School Games Organisers, share ideas, and explore how we can work together to grow participation and strengthen pathways from in school delivery into local bowls clubs.

We were also delighted to be joined by Bowls Buddies, whose support of the programme and discounted equipment offer helps make it easy for schools to introduce bowls to their pupils.

As excitement builds towards Glasgow 2026, we look forward to building on the conversations from today and creating more opportunities for young people to experience, enjoy, and stay involved in bowls.

50 Days to go to the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games and Bowls is ready for a big summer.

Bowls Big Summer is inviting people of all ages and abilities to step onto the green and experience one of the Commonwealth Games’ most exciting and inclusive sports.

Local clubs across the country are opening their doors for beginners with fun, friendly sessions across the summer until the end of September.

No experience needed. Bring your friends, bring your family, or come on your own everybody is invited.

💕Join Bowl for Health in Norfolk – Free Community Sessions Starting Soon!🩺

Together with Active Norfolk, we are delighted to support seven bowls clubs across Norfolk who are delivering the fantastic Bowl for Health programme this year.

With programmes starting throughout June, plus additional sessions in July and September, there are plenty of opportunities for people to get involved.

Bowl for Health is a welcoming, inclusive programme designed to help people become more active, meet others in their community, and improve their overall wellbeing through bowls. Sessions are completely free and open to anyone looking to try something new in a friendly, supportive environment.

☀️Bowls Big Summer in Action at The Connaught Club☀️

Today our Club and Community Development Officer Annie had the pleasure of visiting The Connaught Bowls Club in Attleborough, Norfolk, to see how they are making the most of their involvement in Bowls Big Summer.

The club is running open taster sessions every Saturday throughout the summer, creating regular opportunities for people in the local community to come along and experience our sport in a welcoming and relaxed environment.

During her visit, Annie caught up with Mick to discuss how the sessions work for the club and how their involvement in the Bowl for Health programme has helped engage new participants and strengthen community connections.

Providing simple, consistent opportunities for people to try bowls can make a real difference, and it was great to hear how both initiatives have worked for The Connaught.

On a beautiful sunny day in a fantastic setting, the green was looking its best and provided the perfect backdrop to talk about the positive work taking place at the club.

A big thank you to Mick and everyone at The Connaught for their efforts. We look forward to seeing how their Bowls Big Summer activities continue throughout the season!

This week we were proud to support the campaign, led by Active Partnerships, highlighting the importance of welfare and safeguarding across grassroots sport and physical activity.

On Wednesday, the spotlight was on National Governing Bodies (NGBs) and the vital role they play alongside Sport Welfare Officers to ensure sport remains safe, inclusive and positive for everyone involved.

A huge thank you to all partners, clubs and welfare officers who continue to champion safe sport at every level. Your work truly makes a difference.

We’re excited to share that the Bowls Development Alliance will be part of this year’s Inspire+ Mini Olympics! 🎉

From 9th–11th June, children from across Lincolnshire will come together with their schools to take part in an incredible celebration of sport, activity, and teamwork... and we’re delighted that bowls is included in the programme.

Our team will be on hand throughout the event, delivering fun, engaging sessions and giving young people the chance to try bowls for themselves. We’re passionate about introducing the next generation to the sport and showing just how accessible, inclusive, and enjoyable it can be.

We can’t wait to meet so many enthusiastic participants and be part of such an inspiring event!
