Midlands Pointing The Midlands Point to Point Association organises Point to Point horse racing in the Midlands Area.

It is with great sadness that we must pass on news of the death of Roger Jackson.

Roger was an ardent supporter of the South Notts Hunt and chaired the point-to-point committee for many years . He was well known throughout the pointing world. He rode and then owned many prolific winners, Including Gonalston Cloud who was ridden by Tom Strawson, now Brocklesby P2P Secretary. Nick Kent also rode for Roger and then went on to train for him.

More recently he bred two geldings, both full brothers out of Sun Central, Gonalston Sunrise and Gonalston Sunset. Roger always thought the younger brother(Gonalston Sunset) would make a race horse. He will be running this season and hopefully he will do well in Roger’s memory.

It is with Great Sadness that we report the sad passing of William John Warner (Bill) of Highfields Lodge, Mears Ashby.

Bill, sadly passed away on Tuesday 5th May at Home.

Our thoughts and condolences are very much with the whole Family.

The funeral will take place on Tuesday 26th May, 2.30pm at Mears Ashby Church.

The Fitzwilliam at Dingley on Saturday 23rd May.

Following the successful watering for two meetings already held at Dingley, the water resources for irrigation have been exhausted. No further watering/irrigation will be practical this season.

Even if there was seasonal average rainfall for the rest of May this would not be sufficient to keep ahead of evapotranspiration, let alone provide safe racing ground.

Therefore, the Fitzwilliam Committee, after consultation with the Course Inspector, Clerk of the Course and the Dingley Executive, has regrettably abandonment their fixture on Saturday 23rd May.

The PPA and PPSA would like to thank everyone involved for making an early decision, which will allow all involved to make alternative plans.
