It is with Great Sadness that we report the sad passing of William John Warner (Bill) of Highfields Lodge, Mears Ashby.

Bill, sadly passed away on Tuesday 5th May at Home.

Our thoughts and condolences are very much with the whole Family.

The funeral will take place on Tuesday 26th May, 2.30pm at Mears Ashby Church.

The Fitzwilliam at Dingley on Saturday 23rd May.

Following the successful watering for two meetings already held at Dingley, the water resources for irrigation have been exhausted. No further watering/irrigation will be practical this season.

Even if there was seasonal average rainfall for the rest of May this would not be sufficient to keep ahead of evapotranspiration, let alone provide safe racing ground.

Therefore, the Fitzwilliam Committee, after consultation with the Course Inspector, Clerk of the Course and the Dingley Executive, has regrettably abandonment their fixture on Saturday 23rd May.

The PPA and PPSA would like to thank everyone involved for making an early decision, which will allow all involved to make alternative plans.

Saturday 2nd May: Dingley is currently good ground (1130 Saturday) . Light watering this morning to maintain going. Forecast for 10mm of rain tonight which may ease the ground for tomorrow by 2pm.

Wednesday: Dingley has been watered for 3 days so far. The spiking has meant that there has been very little run off and the track is taking it well. With 4 days to the meeting there is plenty of water available and we are on schedule to get the ground right. The wind is due to die down which will help.

Landlord asks as usual no course walks until Saturday.
