We’re getting ready for a fantastic evening of curry, good company and fundraising for Spectrum WASP! 🐝

Join us on Sunday 20th September at Gurkha Chefs in Rainworth for a delicious buffet packed with all your curry favourites! 🤤🍽️

And just like that… the summer holidays are coming to an end and the school bags are starting to make their annual appearance! 😅

It's time for... BACK TO SCHOOL 💙🎒

For some children and young people, the return to school will be something they’re really looking forward to. After weeks of changed routines, later mornings and days that look a little different, they might actually be ready for the familiarity and structure that school brings.

But for others, the thought of going back may bring a whole mix of emotions. 💭

For our SEND families, we know that returning to school isn’t always as simple as putting on a uniform, grabbing a lunchbox and heading out the door.

There may be worries about new classrooms, new teachers, unfamiliar routines, busy corridors, noise, sensory overload, friendships, changes to support, transitions… or simply the huge adjustment of going from the freedom of the summer holidays back into a very structured day.

And that’s okay. ❤️

It’s okay if the first day feels overwhelming.
It’s okay if mornings are harder than usual.
It’s okay if settling back into a routine takes time.
It’s okay if your child needs a little more support, reassurance or patience.

And parents and carers — it’s okay if you’re feeling apprehensive too. You’re navigating this alongside your child, and sometimes that can feel like a lot.

Remember, there is no one-size-fits-all way to return to school. Every child is different, every family is different, and every SEND journey looks different.

So whether your child is counting down the days, feeling nervous, completely refusing to discuss it, or somewhere in between… you are not alone. 💙

Take it one day, one step and sometimes one morning at a time.

We’re wishing all of our amazing children, young people, parents and carers a gentle start to the new school year. 🌈

You don’t have to have it all figured out on day one.

🌞 SUMMER HOLIDAY ACTIVITY 9 – THE GRAND FINALE! 🎬🌺

And just like that… our 3-week summer holiday programme has come to an end! 🥹💚

For our grand finale, we headed to ODEON Mansfield to enjoy the live-action Moana! 🌊🌺🎬

It was the perfect way to finish off three weeks packed full of fantastic activities, adventures, laughter, creativity, new experiences and, of course, plenty of fun!

We’ve had such a wonderful summer together and it has been absolutely lovely to see so many friendships form, new connections made and smiles galore! 🥰

From getting out and about, trying new things, getting creative, getting active and enjoying some fantastic days together, we hope everyone has made some brilliant memories along the way. ☀️💚

A huge thank you to everyone who has helped make our summer holiday programme so special — our amazing staff, tutors, volunteers, supporters and, of course, all of our wonderful families who joined us along the way. ❤️

🌞 SUMMER HOLIDAY ACTIVITY 8! 🚌🌊

Our penultimate summer holiday activity, and we certainly went out with a bang! 🎉

We hopped on a coach and headed off to Skegness for a fabulous day by the seaside! 🏖️☀️ We also had some families join us and make their own way there, which meant even more of our families could enjoy a day of seaside fun.

The journey there and back was super smooth, with Night at the Museum 1 & 2 keeping us entertained on the coach 🎬🍿 and plenty of snacks and drinks provided along the way. Despite everyone being very excited for the day ahead, everyone was so chilled on the bus — what a dream! 😍

Thanks to the incredible support of the Oakmere Commander Ladies Group, everyone was gifted a little token donation to spend during the day. 💚

The ladies, who play golf up at Oakmere, chose us as their charity of the year last year and raised a phenomenal amount for Spectrum WASP. Their support has helped make days like this extra special for our families, giving everyone a little helping hand towards whatever makes their day at the seaside that bit more enjoyable — whether that's a tasty lunch 🍔, a delicious ice cream 🍦 or some fun in the amusements 🎟️🎰 (whatever they chose!).

We'd also like to say a huge thank you to our fabulous driver Matt from Johnson Bros -Tours, who was superb as always! 🚌👏 He made sure we got there safely, on time and, most importantly, kept everything running smoothly.

It really was such a brilliant day, and we're so grateful to everyone who helped make it happen. 💚

A massive thank you to the Oakmere Commander Ladies Group for their amazing support, to Matt from Redfern for getting us there and back safely, and to all of our families for making it such a fantastic day!

One more summer holiday activity to go… 👀☀️

🌞 SUMMER HOLIDAY ACTIVITY 7! 🌳✨

What a fabulous day we had at Sherwood Pines - Forestry England! 🌲💚

There was SO much going on, there really was something for everyone! From the Treetop Adventure and trampoline nets with Go Ape 🐒🌳 to getting creative with arts and crafts with Betty, making our very own delicious trifles with Steph 🍓🍰 and, of course, some fabulous glitter face painting from our amazing Jeni! ✨🎨

And we can't forget the tasty treat we had for lunch… hot off the press from Urban Flame Pizza! 🍕🔥 Because what better way to refuel after a busy morning of fun than with delicious, freshly made pizza?!

The weather was well and truly on our side, making it the perfect day to get outside, try new things, get creative, enjoy some tasty food and, most importantly, have lots of fun! ☀️🌳

It really was fabulous from start to finish and we loved seeing everyone getting stuck into the activities and enjoying the day. 💚

A HUGE thank you to our amazing tutors Steph and Betty for all their hard work, creativity and enthusiasm! 🥰

And another massive thank you to Luke, Sam & Will from Urban Flame for keeping us all fed with their delicious pizzas! 🍕❤️

What a day! We can't wait to see what Activity 8 brings! 👀☀️

🌞 SUMMER HOLIDAY ACTIVITY 6! 🐾

Activity number 6 took us on a fantastic family trip out to Robin Hoods Wheelgate Park ! 🎢🐐

It was lovely to see everyone enjoying the day in their own way — whether that meant buddying up with another family, exploring together, or simply enjoying some quality time in their own family groups. 💚

With so much to see and do, there was plenty to keep everyone entertained! From animals and attractions to all the fun around the park, there was something for everyone. 🦙🐑🎠

One of the best parts was those lovely little moments when we’d bump into each other around the park — a quick “hello”, a catch-up and then off everyone went on their next adventure! 🥰

Another brilliant day of our summer holiday activities, making memories and enjoying time together. ☀️💚

Summer Holiday Activity 5 ☀️💦

Our fifth summer holiday activity was a splashing success with not one, but two swimming sessions at Calverton Leisure Centre !

We kicked off with our 5–10-year-olds before welcoming our 11–18-year-olds for their own session later in the day. Both groups had an amazing time enjoying the pool, swimming around with the floats, playing games and, most importantly, having lots of fun with friends.

There was plenty of laughter throughout the day, and we even had a little boogie in the pool! From dancing along to YMCA to busting out a few Michael Jackson moves, there were smiles all round and some unforgettable moments.

A huge thank you to Sam and the team at Calverton Leisure Centre for making us feel so welcome and helping to make the day run so smoothly. We really appreciate your support.

Another fantastic summer holiday activity creating memories, building friendships and having fun together! 💙🏊🎶

Summer Holiday Activity 4 ☀️

Our fourth summer holiday activity saw our young people head to World Padel Academy - England for an Introduction to Padel session! 🎾

For many, this was their first experience of the sport, giving them the chance to learn the basics, have a go and see what padel is all about. It was great to see everyone getting involved, supporting one another and enjoying the opportunity to try something different.

As always, there were plenty of smiles, laughs and encouragement throughout the session, with everyone giving it their best effort. It's fantastic to be able to offer new experiences that help build confidence, develop new skills and create lasting memories with friends.

Thank you to Hugo for leading the session and introducing our group to the sport.

Another great summer holiday activity ticked off, and we're looking forward to the next one! 🐝🎾
