Forest Town Guides

Today, all four of our Guide and Ranger leaders spent the afternoon at the Nottinghamshire County Awards, celebrating the incredible dedication and achievements of volunteers from across the county.

We were especially proud to see two of our own leaders recognised for their contributions to Girlguiding!

Congratulations to Jen, who received the County Commissioner’s Thanks Award.

Congratulations to Jane, who received the Oak Leaf Award.

Both awards are thoroughly deserved and recognise the time, commitment and passion they give to Girlguiding.

It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the amazing volunteers who make Girlguiding possible and the difference they make to girls and young women across Nottinghamshire.

Congratulations to everyone who received an award today! 💙

🌾 Harvest Festival at St Alban’s Church 🌾

Today, some of our Forest Town Guides & Rangers attended the Harvest Service at St Alban’s Church, bringing along donations collected by our girls and their families for our local food bank. 💙

Harvest is a lovely opportunity to reflect on the importance of kindness, generosity and looking after those in our community who may need a little extra support.

Giving back and making a positive difference are at the heart of Girlguiding, and we’re proud of our girls for putting these values into action.

A big thank you to everyone who contributed to our collection! 💙

✨️Congratulations to Our Jen ✨️

It's time for another ! Today, we are delighted to announce that Sandra, the county commissioner, has asked Jen Hind-Boville to become an assistant county commissioner alongside Jo Ward, and Jen has accepted.
Jen says "I’m really pleased to be joining the county team as assistant county commissioner, and I’m looking forward to getting started.
Girlguiding has been a big part of my life for many years, in lots of different roles, and one of the things I value most is the incredible amount our volunteers give to make guiding happen week in, week out.
I’m really looking forward to working alongside Sandra, Jo and the wider county team, getting out and about across Nottinghamshire, meeting more of our volunteers and understanding what’s working well — and where we can make things a little easier.
I’m excited to see what we can achieve together and, most importantly, to keep making sure girls across Nottinghamshire have brilliant opportunities through guiding.
I’m sure I’ll see lots of you over the coming months — please come and say hello!"

Welcome to the county team Jen!

💙 A little trip down memory lane…

With the exciting launch of the new Girlguiding uniform next week, we’re planning to reintroduce unit neckers at 1st Forest Town Guides (St Alban’s)! 🎉

Before we start looking at what comes next, we’d love to celebrate a little bit of our history.

We’re hoping someone might have an old 1st Forest Town Guides (St Alban’s) necker tucked away in a drawer that they’d be willing to donate to the unit. We’d love to keep it as part of our unit’s history and use it to inspire our future necker design.

If you have one, or know someone who might, please leave a comment or send us a message. We’d be so grateful for your help! 💙

Thank you for helping us preserve a little piece of our Guiding heritage.
