When community work goes well, it is almost invisible.
A young person stays in education!
An older person is not lonely this week!
Someone in crisis gets through the night!
The absence of bad outcomes is hard to photograph and harder to celebrate. That is part of why this sector is so chronically underfunded. The wins do not look like wins.
For nearly 30 years, Forever Notts has been funding the groups doing this kind of work across Nottinghamshire.
More than £30 million has moved through us into youth clubs, befriending services, mental health projects, food provision, and dozens of other charities and community groups where people show up week after week and quietly hold things together.
This competition is a small attempt to make some of that work visible.
The community groups we have funded are being invited to send in photographs of what they do.
The best of them will be exhibited on Nottinghamshire Day in August, so the rest of the county can see what has been built here.
If you run or work with a group Forever Notts has funded, please enter or if you know one please pass this on.

The Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) UK Local Giving Report 2026 is out today, sharing insights from a survey of more than 12,000 people across the UK and featuring the community foundation perspective from our Chief Executive Emma de Closset.

The findings reflect something community foundations see every day across the UK: local giving is closely connected to people feeling part of their community and seeing the impact of charities and voluntary groups around them.

The report provides a reminder that giving is about more than just money – it's about trust, belonging and pride in the places people call home.

Did you know we have helped over 40 local community groups and charities plant Bramley Trees in their Gardens across Nottinghamshire.
With a small charitable fund set up by Roger Merryweather in 2010, we are able to give 3 or 4 groups a grant each year but we would love to do more.
Would you like to help us?
If you would like to donate to the Bramley Fund – please do so via this link -

As a small charity ourselves we exist to support people giving to the causes they care about. Would you like to set up a family or legacy fund to support what you care about? It might be young people in the city or the elderly across rural areas – you choose and we make it happen making sure 100% of your kindness stays local!

Friday thank you !

This week we're thanking Forever Notts who have provided a grant of £100 as part of their Bramley apple fund that has enabled us to plant two more apple trees here at Ladybrook Community Centre.

These have been planted in the grounds alongside other fruit trees that over many years to come will bring joy and are already starting to blossom . We're really grateful for the donation as well as those of the other people that have supported us with fruit trees over the past few years including one in memory of one of our cancer support group members, one that had been grown from a stone in a back yard by a user of the centre and one that needed rehoming during COVID.

Thank you all for helping us make Mansfield brighter

Don't they all look smart🤩
With funding from our Gemini Fund all the members, volunteers and staff of have been equipped with a new uniform that helps them feel proud, professional and ready to work. Giving them an increased sense of belonging as a valued member of the Pulp Friction team.
The new uniforms build unity, equality and a sense of belonging, while supporting confidence in customer-facing and workplace environments.
