If you've ever thought about volunteering, now is the perfect time to put your hands up 🙋and get involved.

It may seem that there isn't an obvious relationship between the clocks ⏰going back and volunteering, but actually there is. When the longer nights draw in, more local residents experience a noticeable rise in feelings of social isolation and loneliness.

The longer nights and shorter days, simply add to the feeling of being alone.

There are plenty of local community groups who offer great support to residents, whether through coffee mornings, soup and a sing, food provision or an opportunity to get Out and About.

This year, why not see how you can make a difference to your own community and get involved in reducing social isolation and loneliness.

Girlguiding enables girls and young women to develop their potential and make a difference in their local communities. Girls learn new skills, try new things, take on new challenges and have plenty of fun along the way.
