This weekend 6 cadets from the squadron gave their time to complete the challenge of their Bronze DofE Expedition. They were joined by a team of 4 from 181 (City of Gloucester) Squadron. The weekend challenged their teamwork, navigation, camp skills and cooking. I’m glad to say they all succeeded in this endeavour. They have all gone home and will be I’m sure glad of a well earned rest. They will go away now and create a presentation which will complete the Bronze DofE journey. The Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Award is a series of challenges meant to bring cadets out of their comfort zone and push their boundaries. At Bronze level this is made up of 4 areas or sections: Physical, Skill, Volunteering and Expedition. Physical pushes them to develop in a sport or build on existing physical abilities. Skill pushes them to develop in hobbies, learning of an instrument or other life skills. Volunteering gets them to engage within the community and benefit others. Finally the expedition section gets the to test their resolve, teamwork, navigation, cooking and camp craft. The DofE Award is recognised both Nationally and internationally and is a good thing to have on future CVs. It teaches skills for life and memories that will certainly be looked back on for years to come. .adventure.training
