Accolade Hounds Rescue

Accolade Hounds Rescue Accolade Hounds is a UK based dog rescue founded in June 2013. Our aim is to simply, carefully and responsibly place homeless dogs into kind and loving homes.

Our dogs are neutered & vaccinated before rehoming and they have full rescue backup for life.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to every single person who has donated towards more Field Time for the dogs. Your generosity has made it possible for us to cover the hire costs until 15th November, and it means the world to us.

The Accolade dogs were bursting with excitement when I told them.

They’ve promised to repay your kindness with plenty of fun photos of them running free, playing, and enjoying every precious moment

************

Our homeless and sanctuary dogs absolutely light up when they get their hour in the Pay‑As‑You‑Play field. It’s the one place they can run free, forget their worries, and feel safe enough to just be dogs again.

Although only once or twice a week, the field time helps them burn off stress & energy, learn to play & socialise and find the joy in a world that hasn’t always been kind to them.

We aim to take each dog at least once a week, because it truly changes them — you can see it in their bodies, their faces, and their wagging tails. The excitement in the van on the way to the field is something that should put a smile on anyone’s face.

We don’t own a paddock or field like some larger rescues, and hiring a field is our only option, but it comes at a cost of approx Ā£160 a month. So once again, we’re asking for your help.

If you can donate a small amount towards the hire costs, so that the dogs can continue to have some enjoyable and important field time, please do. No amount is too small.

…… and, if anyone local has a secure and safe paddock we could use instead, please let us know. It really would mean the world to our homeless and sanctuary dogs. šŸ˜„

Bluebells (and Baby Bob) went for their OAP MOTs yesterday, just to make sure everything is ticking along nicely as they both start showing those gentle signs of ageing.

Bluebells will be 13 in just four months, and she’s proceeding into her golden‑oldie era with personality and a real lack of grace and elegance. 🤭

She’s become wonderfully selective about what she eats, and she’s decided breakfast in bed is absolutely the way forward. She only moves when she feels the moment truly calls for it — and who can blame her? She’s earned the right to take life at her own pace.

Walks these days are shorter, slower, and full of sniffing stops. She potters along happily, taking in the world like someone who’s seen it all and knows exactly how to enjoy it.

One of our favourite things is watching her watch the younger dogs play. She sits there like a proud granny watching her grandkids — amused, entertained, and maybe remembering the days when she used to zoom around causing mischief herself.

But don’t be fooled into thinking she’s all naps and gentle strolls. Bluebells still has her spark. When the neighbour’s cat sits on the drive and stares at her through the window, she suddenly becomes full of life — barking with her croaky old voice, tail wagging like mad, bouncing on the sofa as if she’s five years old again. It’s her happiest moment of the day, and it’s impossible not to smile watching her come alive.

These oldies bring such joy, humour, and heart to the rescue and our homes. They remind us that slowing down doesn’t mean stopping — it just means enjoying life in a different, sweeter way.

This gorgeous photo landed in our inbox yesterday. Two happy boys cuddling their two little ā€œlambsā€. The girls have well and truly settled into their home and couldn’t be happier.

It’s a lovely reminder that some dogs need a bit more time to find their forever family, but when the right home arrives, the wait feels tiny compared to the joy that follows.

🐾 Important Update: 2026 Themed Dog Show Cancelled 🐾

We’re really sorry to say that due to circumstances beyond our control, we must cancel the dog show that was planned for 12th September 2026.

We know how much everyone looks forward to our events — the dogs, the fun, the community spirit — and we’re just as disappointed as you are.

Our team has explored every possible option, but this time we have no choice but to cancel.

Thank you for your understanding and for always supporting the hounds.

We’ll share updates as soon as we’re able to confirm a new date or future plans.
