Peter Le Marchant Trust

Peter Le Marchant Trust We are a Leicestershire-based charity providing fully-accessible day trips and holidays on the waterways. Experience with us!

Bringing the joy of canal boating to everyone, including those with disabilities. Based in the heart of Loughborough, the Peter Le Marchant Trust is a dedicated charity providing canal boat trips on the picturesque waterways of Leicestershire. For over 45 years, we have been offering day trips and holidays to children and adults living with physical disabilities, social issues and mental health co

nditions. We believe in the therapeutic benefits of time spent on the water, and we witness the positive impact of our β€˜blue health’ trips on both our passengers and volunteers daily. Our specially designed boats are equipped to offer a unique and accessible experience for everyone. Our mission is to make day trips and holidays accessible to all, promoting inclusivity and well-being through our services. The Peter Le Marchant Trust was established in the 1970s by Clare Le Marchant Connell, and today, we proudly operate three boats dedicated to holidays and day trips. Our success is driven by our passionate volunteers and a committed team of core office staff who ensure the best experience for our visitors. At the Peter Le Marchant Trust, we are devoted to making a difference, one trip at a time.

Every trip starts with our volunteers πŸ‘

They're the friendly faces greeting passengers, helping people on board, serving refreshments, maintaining the boats and ensuring every journey runs smoothly.

Without volunteers, we simply couldn't provide the accessible canal trips that so many people enjoy each year.

If you've ever thought about volunteering, now could be the perfect time to get involved.

We work with businesses across the region who want to do something different while supporting a local cause with a direct impact on people’s lives.

That could mean:
βš“ Helping with practical jobs around our canal base
🚀 Supporting fundraising events or sponsored challenges
πŸ’™ Choosing us as your charity partner
β˜• Bringing your staff together for a volunteering or wellbeing day on the water

For many businesses, it’s also a chance for teams to step away from the day-to-day, work together differently and support something tangible within the local community.

Every partnership helps us continue providing accessible canal trips for people who may otherwise struggle to enjoy days out on the waterways.

πŸ‘‰ If your organisation is looking for a local charity partnership, we'd love to hear from you.
