Don’t Forget to Book as soon as possible ! March 19th. 7.30pm

March’s talk is the Lost Windmills of Leicestershire given by our popular, and returning speaker, Mark Temple

Mark is an enthusiastic member of the local history community with a wide range of interests although not an expert.

His interest in windmills is nurtured by the fact that he is a guide at a local mill. His talk looks at the development of windmills in the UK, how mills work and the mills that once existed around the county. He will also touch on social history with some stories of millers and families who lived at local windmills.

Doors will be open from 7.00pm for a 7.30pm start, please use the evening entrance on Granby Street.

Cost: Members £3 Non-members £5

Booking Essential - Please visit the museum and talk to a member of staff or call 01509 233754. Payment can be taken over the phone.

Our next Talk is on Thursday 19 February when renowned palaeontologist Dr Mark Evans will talk about the Barrow Kipper. When I last looked the talk was not on the museum website, however it is possible to book now. Museum staff have a list.

The talk is at the usual time of 7.30. Entrance cost members £3, non members £5.

This will be preceded at 6.30 by our short AGM. All are invited to attend, but only paid up members may vote, should voting take place. New committee members would be welcome - please ask if you've any questions. The usual refreshments will be available in the interval.

Members of the Friends should have received papers by email yesterday regarding the AGM – please contact me if you feel you’ve been missed.

Memberships will become renewable after the AGM when an email to that effect will be sent out.

We only have 7 spaces left so if you would like to learn more about this popular exhibit please call the Museum and book your place as soon as possible
