Members of Lostwithiel Rotary enjoyed a visit to Eden Geothermal today. Here being shown drill heads used to go down over 5,000 metres. The pumped hot water at about 75 degreesC is piped to the biomes and green houses at the Eden Project for heating. The single well, which is over 5km deep, currently only provides hot water but more wells will be drilled in future to provide higher temperature water for electricity generation.

Lostwithiel Rotary Fellowship this evening. Twenty two members, and two guests. Rotarian Liz Rowe PHF from St Austell, and Rotarian Nick Pickles PHF from Wadebridge. Nick talked about the support to the Chestnut Appeal, and charity work related to Gardens in Bloom. He is also a long standing organiser of District Youth competitions. Rotarian David Dunkley proudly sporting his recently acquired RAF St Mawgan credentials. ‘Why dig in when you can check in’ was the riposte from Rotarian Paul Crossman. Seriously, a wonderful evening.
