The biggest polluters of our filthy rivers might not be who youā€™d expect. The Big Frankenchicken corporations behind our Nando's, KFC and Pret, are quietly dumping literal s**t into our water. The ten biggest factory farm companies pump out twice as much sewage as our ten biggest cities combined. But there isnā€™t enough outrage about this scandal.

Oh, and it's an animal cruelty scandal too. Frankenchickens are bred so fast and so fat that they hit "slaughter weight" in 35 days, then their legs give out under them. The only life they'll ever get is spent lying in their own sh*t.

Big Ag claims to be sustainable and care about their chickens. Donā€™t buy it.

Word of the day: Frankenchicken. Not yet in the dictionary, but its use has been growing in popularity over the last five years. It refers to 90% of chickens in the UK who have been genetically engineered to reach slaughter weight in just 35 days. For comparison, if a human baby grew at the same rate, theyā€™d be the weight of two gorillas by the time they were two months old.

This is how far KFC will go to hide the truth.

They took YouTuber Niko to a chicken farm to prove they cared. The birds were 15 days old. Small, cute, and camera-ready.

We didn't buy it. So we went back at slaughter age and filmed what they'd tried to bury. It went viral. The Guardian ran it. Their supplier Moy Park said everything was fine.

Now weā€™ve been back a third time, and found out how far they'll go to keep us out.
