JNF UK is building new communities, developing existing ones and nurturing and protecting the vulnerable, front line towns of southern Israel. We are building schools, parks, roads, community centres and medical centres; we are repairing reservoirs, planting forests and supporting the astonishing local agriculture that is turning the desert green. We are also working in close partnership with Israel’s new generation of Zionist pioneers, who are leaving behind comfortable lives elsewhere in the country to live, volunteer in, develop and protect the Negev.

From evacuation to homecoming 🇮🇱 🍋 🌿

This Sukkot, JNF UK supporters travelled to Israel’s north to meet the people rebuilding their communities after more than two years of upheaval.

At Kibbutz Hanita, just metres from the Lebanese border, they heard directly from residents about the experience of evacuation, returning home and the challenges of rebuilding everyday life.
JNF UK provided emergency assistance to Hanita during evacuation and helped strengthen its emergency response capabilities with essential equipment.

In the spirit of Sukkot, the group shared lunch together in a sukkah at the kibbutz 🥗 ✨

The day included a visit to the Alma Research and Education Centre for expert insight into the challenges facing northern Israel, as well as the Wall and Tower Museum to discover more about Hanita’s remarkable history 🖼

The trip brought supporters closer to the people behind JNF UK’s work, demonstrating how its longstanding mission continues to meet the needs of communities today 💚

Israel’s latest education figures paint a worrying picture.

But behind every statistic is a young person whose education and future have been affected by years of disruption.

For children and teenagers in northern Israel, repeated rocket alerts, school closures and fractured routines have made an already difficult situation even harder. For families facing financial hardship, private tuition to help their children catch up is simply not an option.

At JNF UK’s House of Excellence in Akko, more than 700 young people benefit each year from small-group tutoring in maths, science and English to technology, coding and leadership programmes, alongside mentoring and emotional support.

And it is all provided completely free of charge.

Ahead of Rosh Hashanah, SAHI’s young volunteers came together across Israel to help ensure thousands of families could celebrate the New Year with food on their tables. 🍎🍯

In an incredible nationwide effort, they distributed 6,530 food baskets to families and individuals in need – including 3,300 in Jerusalem, 1,330 in the South, 1,100 in central Israel and 800 in the North.

SAHI ORG works with vulnerable and at-risk young people, giving them the opportunity to make a positive difference in their own communities through volunteering and acts of giving.

This Rosh Hashanah, that spirit was put into action, as young volunteers stepped up to support thousands of people across Israel.
