We're joining Homeless Action in Barnet's Big Sleep Out!

6th Friern Barnet's older Scouts will build bivouacs and sleep out, helping to raise money for Homeless Action in Barnet.

We've supported HAB by cooking meals for the Night Shelter in the past. Taking part in the Big Sleep Out is a great way to help a good cause.

Our team target is £500 - all donations welcome!

On the last night of our Summer Camp 2026 a presentation to Malcolm to mark his 50 years of leading summer camps. The trophy was made by John.

Our final Scout meeting before Summer Camp was packed with teamwork, problem-solving and a little friendly competition!

The evening’s challenge saw our Scouts racing our two traditional trek carts around a course. Halfway round they reached an imaginary river, where each team had to completely dismantle their trek cart, carry it across, and reassemble it before racing to the finish. It was a close contest, but congratulations to the Panthers Patrol, who took the win! They were presented with the Trek Cart Competition Trophy and, of course, some well-earned sweets. 🏆🍬

We also announced the results of this term’s Patrol Competition. After another closely fought term, the Stags Patrol came out on top once again, winning by just a few points. They received the Patrol Competition Trophy along with some celebratory sweets. Congratulations to all of our patrols for their enthusiasm and teamwork throughout the term.

A fantastic way to round off the term. Next stop… Summer Camp! 🏕️

Last night's Scout meeting was all about learning how money works through a fun activity called Trading Post. 💷
The Scouts started with some Scout Pounds and had to decide how best to spend them. They could buy equipment and materials to complete challenges, then sell their finished work or completed tasks back to the Trading Post to make a profit.
There was a huge range of activities to choose from, including knot tying, quizzes, map reading, Morse code, physical challenges, creative builds using spaghetti and marshmallows, paper aeroplanes, jokes, drawings, and much more!
The aim was to make as much profit as possible while managing their money wisely. It was great to see plenty of teamwork, problem-solving and some very creative ideas, despite the very warm evening! ☀️👏
