A beautiful post shared by a mother who recently brought her daughter to Hadassah Hospital Mt. Scopus, reminding us all of the incredible care, professionalism, and dedication of our medical teams :

“On Saturday, my daughter was in excruciating back pain. By Sunday, we were sent to the emergency room at Hadassah Hospital, where it became clear that she had a herniated disc, and she was admitted to the orthopaedic ward.

In less than 12 hours, the entire hospital was evacuated to an underground parking lot that had been transformed into a protected hospital ward.

Witnessing this operation firsthand was nothing short of incredible. patients, equipment, and entire departments were moved with remarkable efficiency, calm, and compassion.

What left the deepest impression on me was the unwavering dedication of the healthcare workers, especially the nurses. Despite the uncertainty and stress surrounding them, they continued to care for every patient with patience, kindness, and professionalism.

It was a powerful reminder of the value that is placed on human life here and of the extraordinary people who devote themselves to caring for others, no matter the circumstances. I will never forget what I witnessed״.

A proud moment for Hadassah and paediatric pulmonology in Israel!

Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem welcomed approximately 80 paediatric pulmonology physicians from across the country for the annual conference of the Israeli Association of Paediatric Pulmonology.

A highlight of the gathering was the official leadership transition, with Prof. Malena Cohen-Cymberknoh, Director of the Paediatric Pulmonology Unit and Cystic Fibrosis Center at Hadassah, welcomed as the association’s new president.

Throughout the conference, physicians shared the latest research, clinical insights, and professional knowledge advancing the field of paediatric pulmonology.

We wanted to highlight an incredible Hadassah leader: Bertukan Zerihun, Head Nurse of the Paediatric Department at Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem.

Bertukan leads one of Jerusalem’s busiest paediatric departments, guiding a team of 44 nurses while supporting children and families through some of their most difficult moments.

During the recent measles outbreak, she helped expand specialised care units, advocated for public health awareness before the Knesset, and continued leading with strength, compassion, and purpose.
Her leadership philosophy says it all:

“Nothing is too hard. You can always find a solution.”

From immigrant child to nursing leader, Bertukan’s story is a powerful reminder of the dedication, resilience, and humanity that make Hadassah so extraordinary.

At the heart of Hadassah’s research ecosystem, the Hadassah Organoid Centre is helping shape the future of personalised medicine.

Established in 2020, the centre pioneers patient-derived organoid models for biomedical and translational research, using advanced 3D culture technologies and automated drug screening systems.

With a growing biobank of more than 350 organoid lines from healthy and diseased tissues, the centre provides a powerful platform for disease modelling, regenerative medicine, and personalised therapies.

Through collaborations with Hadassah departments, the Hebrew University, industry partners, and the Organospheres National Consortium, this work reflects Hadassah’s commitment to advancing medical innovation with global impact.

We’re proud to welcome Dr. Tarryn Kawalsky from South Africa as she begins her oncology residency at the Sharett Institute of Oncology at Hadassah Ein Kerem.

Inspired by her grandmother’s battle with colon cancer, Tarryn’s journey into oncology was shaped not only by science, but by compassion, connection, and a deep commitment to patients.

Passionate about women’s health and gynaecological cancers, she also co-founded The Ovarian Club podcast to raise awareness through evidence-based conversations.

We wish her five meaningful years of learning, growth, and impact as part of our multidisciplinary team.
