تنها ۲۲ سال داشت که به دلیل باور مسیحی و فعالیت صلح‌آمیز دینی زندانی شد. پس از آزادی، به او اجازه ندادند آخرین شش واحد دانشگاه را بگذراند.

او هرگز نتوانست مدرک کارشناسی خود را دریافت کند.

A Canadian couple who “couldn’t sleep” after reading about the plight of an from the United States to Panama have helped to sponsor her resettlement to .

According to the The New York Times Ian and Naomi Elliot, who are in their 60s, spent months searching for a way to help resettle , but found that “everywhere we tried, the door was shut”.

Until just before Christmas last year, when Mr Elliot received an unexpected call from a charity that helps to resettle persecuted Christians to Canada, City of Refuge, which had had a cancellation and offered the place to Artemis.

مصادره یک کلیسا فقط مسئله مالکیت یک ساختمان یا حتی آزادی عبادت نیست. بُعد کمتر آشکار آن به چیزی مربوط می‌شود که می‌توان «خشونت فرهنگی» نامید: به حاشیه راندن یا محو تدریجی حافظه تاریخی جوامع دینی.

در ایران، این حذف به شکل‌های مختلف اتفاق می‌افتد؛ از نظام آموزشی و رسانه‌های رسمی که قرائتی خاص از اسلام شیعی را در مرکز هویت رسمی کشور قرار می‌دهند، تا حذف برخی اقلیت‌ها از جمله نوکیشان مسیحی از آمار رسمی.

کلیسا، آرامگاه، مدرسه، بیمارستان یا خانه تاریخی فقط «ملک» نیست. این مکان‌ها حامل حافظه‌اند. جوامع از طریق آن‌ها گذشته خود را به یاد می‌آورند، داستان‌هایشان را منتقل می‌کنند و هویت دینی و فرهنگی خود را از نسلی به نسل دیگر می‌رسانند.

به همین دلیل، مصادره، تخریب، تعطیلی یا تغییر کاربری چنین مکان‌هایی فقط زندگی امروز یک جامعه را تحت تأثیر قرار نمی‌دهد.

گاهی آنچه مصادره می‌شود، فقط یک ساختمان نیست؛ بخشی از حافظه یک جامعه است.
