“I’m passionate about youth clubs as I know what they did for me personally.”

Featuring on the Estate Born Success podcast, Mak 10 shares why youth organisations and clubs play such an important role in empowering young people to reach their full potential!

The podcast, hosted by the Foundation Ambassador Ellie Prohan, shares the stories of people who came from council estates, social housing and working-class backgrounds, and went on to build something extraordinary.

For young people, these stories are a reminder that where you come from doesn’t have to determine where you can go. Hear new perspectives, discover what’s possible and be inspired to believe in your own potential.

Today marks the fifth anniversary of the , our project with developed to train young people as community leaders and to support them in delivering social cohesion and anti-racism initiatives in three counties in Northern Ireland.

Since then, our work has continued to grow across NI and Ireland, including our successful Beyond The Ball programme, funded by the International Fund for Ireland, and our current Peace Academy programme, funded by the , hosted in hubs in Belfast and Sligo.

Now, exactly five years on from that day in Belfast, we kick off a week of football tournaments bringing together over 100 young people from 8 border counties, as we continue to use the power of football to break down barriers, bring communities together and empower young people to reach their potential.

Here’s to another successful 5 years!

What work experience looks like at the Rio Ferdinand Foundation 📹

Last month, Rory joined us on work experience, spending a week with our Manchester team to get a behind-the-scenes look at what we do.

To round off the week, we set him the challenge of planning, filming and editing his own reel from start to finish... and this is the result!

A huge well done to Rory for his enthusiasm, creativity and hard work throughout the week. It was great to have you as part of the team.

Thanks to our funders Findel for continuing to support opportunities like this, helping more young people build skills, grow in confidence and explore their future career pathways.

On National Intern Day, we wanted to celebrate all the young people who have participated in our internship programme.

Over the past 24 months, we’ve been proud to work alongside incredible partners to provide life-changing opportunities across the music, fashion, sport and creative industries, helping young people gain real workplace experience, build confidence and take meaningful steps towards their future careers.

From behind-the-scenes experiences to paid internships with some of the world’s leading brands, these opportunities have opened doors and shown what’s possible when you redesign entry-level employment pathways for young people.

A huge thank you to all of our partners for collaborating with us to empower young people to reach their potential.

As the school year comes to an end, one group of young girls from Manchester are ready for their next chapter, having taken part in sessions with our team to support their transition to secondary school.

Over the past six weeks, we've been working with a group of Year 6 girls at Moston Lane Community Primary School on a creative wellbeing programme, helping them build confidence ahead of their move to secondary school.

Through arts, drama, creative activities and team challenges, they explored practical wellbeing techniques and developed strategies to help them navigate the exciting transition into Year 7.

Thank you to Findel for their continued support in helping us deliver programmes like this, empowering more young people across Greater Manchester to reach their full potential.

We’ve spent two incredible days with Lyle & Scott this week, as our talented young Londoners gained a unique insight into the world of fashion. Working alongside Lyle & Scott designers, they explored the creative process and gained hands-on experience of product design.

Hosted at , they worked alongside industry experts to explore the creative process before transforming and repurposing old football kits into their own unique pieces to take home.

A huge thank you to Lyle & Scott, , and for opening doors and delivering such an inspiring, hands-on workshop.
