Hello, friends! 👋👋👋
Jana Nightingale here - you may remember me as the founder of NOW Live Events, the organisation I happily ran for 6 years. You'll have connected with NOW here in some way over the last few years - and you may have noticed that we haven't run any events or been in touch for a long time now.
It's time to close down this page now, but before I do, let me explain a bit about where we've been...
2 years ago, I moved from London to Kent on my son Ezra’s first birthday, after 15 glorious years in our capital. My husband Matt & I moved to be closer to my parents and to live in a family home big enough to fit our growing family.
However, literally days after our move, we found out my Dad had an inoperable brain tumour. We sat with him while he had tests done, we played him his favourite sixties music as he lay in the hospital. And then – we held his hand as he slipped out of this worldly existence, just 3 weeks later. Just like that. He was 66.
If you’ve ever lost someone close to you, you’ll know about the next part. Grief throws us into unforeseen, destabilising, totally foreign territory. We can’t necessarily make sense of it. We don’t know who we are anymore.
But this I know for sure now too – grief does transform. Eventually.
When lockdown happened, the grief I had inside felt matched in the world outside – and now, somehow, I’ve come through the other side - feeling more like me than I ever have. Grief, time passing, the global situation we’ve all found ourselves figuring out – this has all irreversibly changed me. And no doubt you’re different now, too. So many people I speak to say it's forced them to question and review how they want to live their lives.
While you may know me as a runner of events, I've also taught self-development for many years. And after a decade in this field, I’ve decided to take the next natural step and launch courses, immersions and retreats of my own, which speak to these new times.
My intention is to teach individuals how to reconnect with what I call our Knowing – with our awareness, our purpose and with all of who we are. This work helps us go beyond being identified with our busy thinking mind - which we are so often in touch with in our busy modern lives (let alone a frickin' global pandemic).
The invitation is to reconnect with our body, emotions, our intuition, imagination and our soul. In my own life, this process of remembering my Knowing has been nothing short of entirely transformative. Like finding the biggest treasure you could imagine, right there all along - and you don’t need to burn incense to find it, if that’s not your thing 😉
And the tools I've picked up over the last decade - running events and teaching Psychology, mindfulness, neuroscience and spirituality - have helped me figure out how to teach it to others, too.
So, while saying goodbye once and for all the NOW events, my hope is to take those themes into a new era. If you, or anyone you know, want help to understand what might be in your way in these unusual times, how to move through it, and what might lie ahead, I welcome you to join me and a kind, warm-hearted, spirited community, cheering you on as you come home to who you came here to be.
