🤍💚 The countdown to Notting Hill Carnival 2026 ( ) is officially underway, and we are busily preparing for our parade!

As we look ahead, we thought it would be the perfect time to revisit our exclusive interview with TMZ and George Louzada ( ) Passista Director and Artistic Director of Mocidade, our beloved Godmother School in Rio, Brazil. 🇧🇷 ( )

In this conversation, George gives us an insight into the preparation of Carnival - because Carnival is so much more than beautiful costumes and sparkling feathers — it's culture, community ,creativity, storytelling and months of hard work from hundreds of people.

✨28 June 2026 — Samba Ancestral: The Mocidade Journey ( 2pm -3.30pm) @ Waterloo Action Centre.

A powerful samba workshop exploring the origins of Samba and the signature movements of Mocidade.

The workshop will be translated from Portuguese to English with live drums . 🇧🇷

💚🤍 NO CLASS: This Easter Sunday (5 April 2026) 🐇🐣🐇

Classes return on Sunday 12 April 2026

We’ll be back with a joint drumming & dance class — dance to a live bateria or learn samba rhythms live!

🤍 Dance class will be led by dancer, choreographer and LSS guest teacher Adriano ( ) 🇧🇷

From Porto Seguro, Bahia, Adriano trained at Antonio Carlos Kaito’s dance school, Capoeira Sul da Bahia Academy, and Donel Alencar Academy of Dance. He has performed nationally and internationally with companies including Axè Odara and Brazilian Follies Show, and has taught alongside respected Afro-Brazilian educators. He has also travelled to Burkina Faso to deepen his knowledge of traditional West African rhythms and percussion.

💚The Bateria class will be led by one of our wonderful LSS Bateria Directors, who will introduce you to samba rhythms on traditional Bateria instruments like the caixa, surdo, and repique as we accompany our dancers..

From 6:15pm to 7:15pm on Sundays we hold joint drumming and dance classes. Dance to a live bateria, or learn how to play samba rhythms!

All classes led by our expert dance and drumming teachers. We cater to all levels, from beginners to those more advanced in their samba journey.

London School of Samba teachers are professional dancers and musicians with decades of training - some under renowned Brazilian samba instructors and some under our very own LSS roof.
