What can you do if you meet someone who is homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless?
A few practical steps can make a real difference:
📍 In or near W12, W6, W4 or W3: Tell them about The Upper Room. We provide hot meals, takeaways, clothing, toiletries, practical support and signposting.

🏠 For housing advice and casework: Contact Glass Door Homeless Charity on 020 7351 4948.
🌙 If someone is sleeping rough: Make a StreetLink alert or call 0300 500 0914. Give an exact location and description so an outreach team can find them.
⚠️ If someone is in immediate danger or needs urgent medical assistance, call 999.

A huge thank you to everyone at the Queen Mother Clothing Guild (QMCG) for this incredibly generous donation.
Clothes, towels, sleeping bags, socks, hats and so much more. These items will quite literally make a difference to hundreds of our guests, particularly as we move (albeit slowly!) towards the colder winter months.
Everyone who comes through our doors deserves to be treated with respect and dignity. Being able to offer someone a brand-new item of clothing, a warm sleeping bag or simply a fresh pair of socks might seem like a small thing, but the impact can be tremendous – both practically and in helping someone feel valued.

Today’s Guardian report warns that some people leaving prison early could be released without anywhere to live.
Leaving prison without somewhere safe to live can undermine every attempt to rebuild a life. Alongside accommodation, effective resettlement requires early planning, practical preparation and continued support in the community.
For future releases, agencies need to work together to ensure people have identification, benefits, medication, a phone and transport; and a warm handover to someone who can help them access training, mentoring and employment.
Through UR4Driving, The Upper Room sees how consistent, practical support can rebuild confidence and create routes into training and work.
We want to strengthen relationships with prisons, probation services, councils, housing providers, employers and charities so that support pathways are established before the next release date, not assembled afterwards.

What a brilliant evening!
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for The Upper Room Quiz Night on Wednesday. It was wonderful to see the room so full, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who came along and supported us.
An evening like this takes a lot of people to make happen, so a very special thank you to:
• Latymer Upper School for once again generously allowing us to hold the quiz in their dining room, and especially Kerry and Eleanor from Latymer Partnerships for organising the event, along with the fantastic kitchen team. Latymer Upper School
• Our brilliant Upper Room volunteers who gave their time to help everything run smoothly.

It was a real pleasure to join Chiswick House & Gardens for the opening of their fantastic new Learning Hub yesterday.

A wonderful space designed to bring people together, create opportunities and support learning, creativity and community.

Exciting news 🎨

Artists Micheal Haran and Paul Mulvey are back with a brand new exhibition, “Vision and Colour”.

Many know Ash as the manager of UR4 Meals, our hot meals project 💙 What they don’t know is his story.

In this clip from the show Miracles with magician on and , Ash shared his journey, from service user to project manager at The Upper Room.

Now, Ash is running the Thames Meander Marathon on 9th August 2026, raising funds to help people rebuilding their lives after homelessness. As people move forward in their journey, many need help replacing a lost or stolen phone, getting government ID, or covering travel costs to appointments, interviews or training - small interventions that can make a huge difference at a critical point.
