We're raising awareness and taking action to end the scourge of violence against women and girls.

Since our No More Violence Against Women campaign launched in 2019, WI members have:

- Taken part in awareness-raising events and vigils
- Supported the annual 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.
- Worked alongside specialist organisations and campaign partners.
- Encouraged men and boys to play an active role in preventing violence against women.
- Raised awareness of coercive control and other less visible forms of abuse.

But, we want to do more.

The Winter Fair will be taking place in Llanelwedd on 30 November and 1 December.

The WI competitions for members to enter are as follows:
Craft - A Christmas Cushion for a Child to include a pocket for a small gift
Produce - A Stollen

The WI has a long history in campaigning for our environment, and yesterday was no different.

Thame WI, Oxfordshire Federation of Women's Institutes, were joined by locals including MP Freddie van Mierlo for Henley and Thame - Liberal Democrat, the local mayor, and other green allies to raise awareness into the ongoing pollution in their precious river Pang.

Online event with the Older People’s Commissioner for Wales - 11 November 2026, 2pm - 3.30pm

Members in Wales - Join our online event with Rhian Bowen-Davies, the Older People's Commissioner for Wales. The Commissioner is an independent voice and champion for older people and will be discussing her role, powers and work.

Also joining the Commissioner will be Joanne Silverthorne, Head of Advice and Assistance. The role of the Commissioner's Advice and Assistance Team is to help to connect older people with support and services throughout Wales, and help to ensure older people's rights are upheld.

Our 2026 competition for members is to ‘Design and Create a Coaster’ depicting the theme of ending violence against women.
