Strauss wrote this song in the final year of his life — the opening movement of his Vier letzte Lieder, setting Joseph von Eichendorff's words on two companions walking hand in hand through hardship and joy, pausing at the quiet, golden end of a long journey.

VOCES8 Records are delighted to announce the release of Apollo5 new album ‘Crossings’.

‘Crossings’ takes inspiration from the Via Francigena (or the ‘road that comes from France’), the ancient pilgrimage route linking Canterbury to Rome, and brings together music and poetry from across Europe, spanning five centuries. Moving between sacred and secular traditions, the programme reflects the different paths, landscapes, and encounters associated with pilgrimage, rooted in movement, nature, and shared experience. With this album, we trace the many routes that travellers have taken across the continent, and invite listeners to walk alongside them.

️⭐NEW MUSIC FRIDAY⭐

is delighted to release the new album Psalms of Doubt & Wonderment by Swedish composer Mårten Jansson.

Performed by the VOCES8 Scholars Ensemble and Stockholm Saxophone Quartet, conducted by Ragnar Bohlin, the album brings together music for choir and saxophone quartet, exploring a journey from fear and doubt to wonderment and joy.

Featuring texts by Charles Anthony Silvestri alongside Thomas Hardy and sacred texts, the programme includes Quaere Me, The Choirmaster’s Burial, Lead Me, Lord, Sanctus and the three movement title work Psalms of Doubt & Wonderment. The excerpt shared here is the first movement, My Prayers Rise to Thee.

This is also the first recording for VOCES8 Records by the VOCES8 Scholars Ensemble.
