Barnet Mencap is recruiting!

We’re excited to announce two Deputy Manager vacancies supporting adults with moderate learning disabilities and autistic adults to live independently. One post will lead our Shared Houses team, and the other will lead our Outreach team.

For over 65 years, Barnet Mencap has provided supported accommodation, learning and leisure activities, information, advice, and guidance across the borough. We’re committed to equality, safeguarding, and creating a supportive workplace with:

✔ 30 days annual leave (including Bank Holidays)
✔ Flexible working through TOIL
✔ A friendly, passionate team

We’re looking for candidates with:
• 2+ years’ experience supporting adults with learning disabilities/autistic adults
• Strong safeguarding knowledge
• Experience supervising staff
• Excellent communication and IT skills
• A passion for empowering people to make their own decisions
• Interest in working towards a Level 5 management qualification

Celebrating Creativity & Inclusion at the New Dawn Project Exhibition

We are delighted to share that Naomi, one of our Barnet Mencap clients, proudly showcased her artwork at the New Dawn Project exhibition — a new initiative created and curated by artist Vida Baradarannia, Founder of SkyBlueAcademy.

Launched in 2025, the New Dawn Project supports autistic adults, refugees, neurodivergent people, and members of the wider community by providing creative workshops that build confidence, social connections, and practical artistic skills. The exhibition featured work produced at Middlesex University London, Barnet Mencap, and pieces from Vida’s own collection.

We are incredibly proud of Naomi for representing Barnet Mencap and sharing her creativity with the community. Her work is a testament to the power of inclusion, opportunity, and artistic expression.

Barnet Mencap at Mencap’s 80th Anniversary in Parliament

On Wednesday 17th June, we were delighted to attend the Royal Mencap Society’s 80th anniversary celebration at the Houses of Parliament. It was a lovely afternoon on the terrace, full of networking, reconnecting and celebrating the incredible work happening across the country.

We were especially proud that Pauline was invited for her many years of commitment and dedication to Barnet Mencap, working across all our projects. We were equally thrilled that Mansi, one of our longstanding and wonderful volunteers, was invited to represent the heart of our volunteer community.

We also heard from Jen Craft MP, who spoke passionately about the importance of supporting people with learning disabilities and the impact of Mencap’s work over the last 80 years.

A truly special milestone to be part of.

Huge thank you to everyone who attended our Minds and Muffins event yesterday - it was wonderful to gather people from the borough to network and enjoy lots of cake. We had lots of fun with the Tombola and our Chief Executive Ray Booth gave a talk to mark Learning Disabilities Week! Thank you Hale Lane and Wenzel's the Bakers for the very generous donations! 🍰🧁🥯🍩

A Star Visit to Remember ⭐

We were delighted to welcome to our COPS session at Station Road last week.
