What is the IPA Group Benevolent Fund?

A benevolent fund is a charity that supports people within a community during times of real hardship.

The IPA Group Benevolent Fund provides practical support to eligible IFA and IPA members and their families when life takes an unexpected turn, such as illness, loss of income, bereavement, family crisis, housing insecurity, or serious financial pressure.

Every application is reviewed carefully and confidentially, with support based on need, evidence, and available funds.

At its heart, the Fund is about members supporting members, offering reassurance, dignity, and practical help when it is needed most.

When one member suddenly found themselves unable to work, the financial pressure built quickly. Rent, utilities, food and family costs became harder to manage, and the fear of losing stability became overwhelming.

Another recent beneficiary was facing serious health challenges that affected their ability to earn. With income reduced and essential bills still arriving, they reached out for help during one of the most difficult periods of their life.

Support from the IPA Group Benevolent Fund helped cover essential costs at a critical moment, giving the member and their family the breathing space they needed to recover and plan their next steps.

The IFA/IPA Group Benevolent Fund will now be publicly known as the IPA Group Benevolent Fund for our communications, campaigns, and fundraising activities.

Thank you so much to the members of the IFA who donated to the IFA/IPA Group Benevolent Fund during their membership renewal.

Your generosity is already helping members who are going through some of life’s toughest challenges, such as homelessness, serious injury, illness, caring for loved ones, or sudden financial hardship.

Thanks to your support, members have received practical help when they needed it most. This includes help with essential bills, finding accommodation, meeting household needs, and having the stability to start rebuilding their lives.

One person called the Fund “a ray of light during one of the darkest periods of my life.” Another said the relief they felt when their application was approved was “enormous.”

Stories like these remind us why the Benevolent Fund exists to show that our professional community truly cares for its members.
