An update about the Paddock site: construction works to update the path network are ticking along behind the fences, with foundations for the new bird hide next to the river due to go in soon! 👷🏼‍♂️⛑🛻

TCV activities are continuing - with weekly volunteering sessions every Wednesday @ the Paddock 10am-3pm. 🌳

Our Friday wildlife surveys 10-11am are still going ahead, on sites near to the Paddock (away from construction noise) 🐦

Some of our sessions, including weekend events and summer holiday activities for kids have been re-located to our sister site @ Railway Fields temporarily. 🚸

Look at this fab find by one of our volunteers yesterday - a buff tip moth caterpillar!
We are working hard to add as many of our wildlife sightings to iNaturalist and this brings us to a total of 278 species.

This year marks 40 years since Railway Fields first opened up as a nature park back in 1986.

To celebrate we are dipping into the archives 📜📸

These aerial photos show when the site was a British Rail goods yard, likely for loading/unloading coal. It was functioning between 1868 to 1967 (Just under 100 years!) And was part of the Tottenham & Hampstead Junction Railway. 🚂

In the 1st pic you can see the railway track that still runs through the site today, and the 2nd shot is zoomed out- but you can spot the Railway Fields triangle top middle!

This year marks 40 years since Railway Fields first opened up as a nature park back in 1986. (It later became a Local Nature Reserve in 1990).

To celebrate we are dipping into the treasure trove that is the Railway Fields Archives to pull out photo gems from the recent and distant past. 📜📸

This photo dates back at least 14 years ago and shows the cobbled path looking very country-lane with a grassy patch in the middle.
