An evening made even more memorable by the powerful, encouraging and celebratory words of our wonderful speakers.
Our keynote speaker, Emily Wheeler from Furnishing Futures, shared the inspiring transformation of one of our refuges. A beautiful, welcoming home created in collaboration with Kiran for survivors of domestic abuse and their children.
Our host and Chair of Trustees, Sahrish Iftikhar, spoke movingly about her own lived experience of growing up in an abusive home, reminding us why Kiran’s work remains so vital.
Our heartfelt thanks also go to Jain Lemom from the Mayors Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC), Nighat Qureshi from City Bridge Foundation, and newly elected Waltham Forest councillor Charlotte Lafferty for recognising and celebrating Kiran Support Services’ journey and achievements.
Finally, thank you to mother and daughter duo Arifa Nasim and Fozia Nasim for their beautiful readings in Urdu and English of poems written by one of our service users, giving voice to her strength, courage and experience.
Thank you to every speaker for helping us reflect on how far Kiran has come, while inspiring us to continue building a safer and brighter future for women and children.
