Support starts with an alert.

If you come across someone sleeping rough, raising an alert helps outreach teams connect them to local support.

When you raise an alert, try to include:
📍 An exact location (street name, bus stop or entrance)
🧥 What the person is wearing, descriptive details
🕒 When they were last seen
ℹ️ Any safety concerns or if they have a pet

Women’s rough sleeping is often hidden from view.

From 21–27 September, Leicester is taking part in the National Women’s Rough Sleeping Census for the first time. The census aims to build a clearer picture of women’s experiences of rough sleeping and hidden homelessness, helping local services identify gaps in support.

Many women avoid sleeping in visible locations because of the risks of violence and exploitation, meaning their experiences can be missed by traditional counts.

Local organisations are encouraged to support the census by promoting it, providing safe spaces for women to participate and helping with outreach activity.

We welcome the Prime Minister’s commitment to offer everyone sleeping rough a route off the streets by Christmas.

Achieving it will take government, local authorities, outreach teams, charities, businesses and communities working together - and every member of the public can play a part.

StreetLink is the connection between someone sleeping rough and the local services that can help them. If you see someone sleeping rough in England or Wales, don't walk past.
