Creativity, fear, instinct, failure, persistence. What happens when they all end up in the same book?

Cowards Don't Go To Heaven sees Eugene Cheong, one of Asia’s most awarded creatives and a D&AD 50 Best Copywriters honoree, unpack four decades in the industry through eight creative habits, from Courage and Curiosity to Authenticity and Persistence. Part manifesto, part reflection, the book combines handwritten essays with Simon Spilsbury’s illustrations and was shortlisted at D&AD Awards 2026 in both Book Design and Typography.

And now, it's stepping off the page. Join us at D&AD HQ in London on 9 June, where Eugene Cheong and illustrator and cartoonist Simon Spilsbury will unpack the making of the book - they'll be talking creativity, courage and everything in between. Expect live illustration, drinks, a signing, and the chance to pick up a copy on the night.

Tickets are free, but going fast. RSVP now: https://eu1.hubs.ly/H0vX7zW0

Designing a typeface for Penguin Random House is no small feat, and today we’re shining a spotlight on one that took home a Yellow Pencil at D&AD Awards 2026. ✏

Type designer Olivia King created Penguin Inclusive Sans as the first brand font across Penguin Random House globally, bringing together accessibility, clarity and contemporary characters in a system designed for everyday use across the Penguin brand. Rooted in Penguin’s 90-year mission to make reading more inclusive and available to everyone, the typeface carries that legacy into a new era.

The project was awarded a Yellow Pencil in Type Design & Lettering at D&AD Awards 2026, recognising the depth of thinking, craftsmanship and ex*****on behind King’s work.

Veronika Burian, Jury President for Type Design & Lettering, said: “Penguin Inclusive Sans stood out from the other projects because it has the historical rigour, conceptual depth, brand relevance, and brilliant ex*****on we felt as a jury worthy of further elevation to Yellow Pencil.”

And Derek Man, Design Director at Penguin Random House, added: “Creating a new typeface for a publishing giant is no small feat. Penguin Inclusive Sans delivers that with craftsmanship aplomb, balancing accessibility with bold, contemporary sensibility.”

D&AD Festival 2026 brought together the people, ideas and conversations shaping what’s next.

For two days, the industry came together to learn, debate, make, question and celebrate creativity in all its forms. And if there was one thing the Festival proved, it’s that creativity is very much alive.

We couldn't have got there without our judges. More than 300 creatives joined us at County Hall in London, where they deliberated on who'd scoop a Pencil this year. This was no small task, and we saw some lively debates as they spent long hours finding the best of the best from around the world.
