🎶 Applications for In Motion 2026 are now open!
🎧 In Motion, our flagship artist development programme, opens today for composers and music creators ready to take a transformative step in their creative journey. Over 18 months, In Motion offers tailored support, mentorship and funding to help you gain clarity in your artistic goals and bring a public-facing project to life — whether that’s an EP, installation, event or another form of creative expression.
✨ The programme offers a substantial package of support, including a £1,800 artist bursary, a production grant of up to £4,000, 1:1 mentoring and professional coaching. You’ll also participate in our two-day Networking Days residential, designed to foster collaboration and creativity within a community of like-minded composers.
🎭 In Motion is divided into two phases. In the initial Discovery Phase (6 months), you’ll clarify your goals, develop your creative ideas and set a realistic project plan and budget. The Activity Phase (12 months) focuses on implementing your plan and sharing your work with an audience.
📝 The application has two stages. First, you'll submit your bio, describe the step-change you aim to achieve and share two examples of your work. Selected candidates will then be invited to complete the second stage. Applications close on Monday 3 November 2025, with successful candidates notified by Friday 20 March 2026.
💻 Have more questions? We’re hosting two webinars — an open session for all composers on Monday 13 October and another session open to d/Deaf, disabled and neurodivergent composers on Tuesday 14 October.
🤝 Sound and Music is a PRS FoundationTalent Development Network Partner supported by PPL - Phonographic Performance Ltd. In Motion is made possible with the generous support of Arts Council England, Jerwood Foundation, The Garrick Club Charitable Trust, Michael Guest Charitable Trust, Marchus Trust and Creative Scotland.
