WeSwim would simply not be possible without the help of all of our incredible volunteers, and that was certainly true at the gala too. Over 50 volunteers came, bringing enthusiasm, compassion, support - and some delicious baked goods too! Our community is so generous with their time and energy and we feel so lucky to have each and every one of them💙

Our swimmers are, of course, the life and soul of WeSwim.
Our mission is to make swimming accessible to the disabled community in London, allowing everyone to experience the joy of being in water. We know that everyone can swim, in some way or another, and celebrating that fact at the gala is such a fantastic experience every year. From people returning to water after accidents, to those learning to swim having never thought it possible, we are consistently so inspired by the determination of our community. To all our swimmers: we’re so proud of everything you achieved!💙💙

We’d like to give a huge, heartfelt thank you to the Right Worshipful Lord Mayor of Westminster, . Mayor Dimoldenburg stepped in to host our Gala awards ceremony last minute, agreeing to attend on his one day off, with just two days notice.
Our swimmers are so dedicated, with many of them overcoming huge amounts of nerves (among other barriers) to participate on race day. To be presented with a medal from the Mayor truly honours their achievement, and many of them have told us how much it means to them. The generosity and warmth of Mayor Dimoldenburg is exceptional, and we were so grateful to have him there.💙

💙WESWIM GALA 2026!💙
This past weekend we hosted our 3rd WeSwim gala, attended by over 60 swimmers and hundreds of volunteers and spectators. The day was completely packed with encouragement, support, joy, and even some happy tears. We are so thankful to our whole community for coming together to achieve such a wonderful day, and so proud of every single swimmer who raced.💙

Husen joined us in 2022, after seeing us at our Old Street club. He’s barely missed a week since then - always bringing infectious energy to sessions! He’s also made huge progress in the water, regularly swimming 20 lengths now!

If you want to join a community centred on the joy of swimming we’d love to have you - check the link in our bio.

This week we launched our eight club, in Elephant & Castle, lead by the wonderful Nigel & Connie.

Being in more pools, put very simply, means reaching more people. Travel is not easy for people with disabilities. The more sessions we have - the more we can make swimming accessible for the 1 in 5 Londoners who has a disability.

At that first session, our founder Tash approached a by-standing wheelchair user and asked if she wanted to join us. It turns out, she swam with WeSwim twice, at another location, but was having trouble getting to that one. She can now join us at the Elephant & Castle and restart her swimming journey.

Huge thanks to the London Marathon Foundation, for help getting this one off the ground. It is timely that the is this weekend, as we all watch in awe, the thousands of people who have put in hundreds of hours of training to achieve that magic goal, whilst raising millions for charities like ours, to help people be active. Thank you to all the participants and good luck!

Across 2025, WeSwim provided over two and a half thousand hours of safe, supported swim sessions for disabled adults in London. Thanks to the support of more than 150 volunteers, this gives us a 13x return on investment in terms of social value provided compared to the funding we’ve received.

As a small team we’re incredibly proud of these numbers, and so grateful to all our funders and volunteers for enabling us to have such an impact💙

Interested in helping us grow further and help more people? Get in touch today💙

Are you based in the Acton/Shepherd’s Bush/Willesden Junction/Kilburn area? We’re looking for more lovely volunteers to join our session in Queen’s Park!

What does a supported swim session look like? It’s different for every swimmer, but it will always involve joy✨

If you’re a confident swimmer and want to help other people access the joy of being in water, we’d love to have you as a volunteer.

If you’re an adult with a disability or long term health condition who would benefit from our support in the water, you’re welcome at WeSwim.
